A tutor can help create a safe environment for a child to voice their concerns with learning which they may feel unable to do in a class setting. Having one-on-one tutor sessions can also help a child to target exactly what they are struggling with. A tutor also has more time with that student to assess what they are good at in order to keep…

Gemma is awesome and can't sing her praises enough. My daughter understands things she didn't before. Thank you and happy to give you a 5 star review if that helps.

Inside EdgeworthTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 student Lucy worked through the 2023 HSC Mathematics exam paper, focusing on non-linear equations and simultaneous equations using past papers for targeted revision.

Year 11 student Ella covered trigonometry, triangle area calculations, and bearings, while also exploring z-scores with visual aids via OneNote.

For Year 12 Chemistry, Sam began the organic chemistry module from scratch by learning to represent carbon compounds and applying IUPAC nomenclature to hydrocarbons and functional groups.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student in Advanced Maths repeatedly relied on writing minimal working when tackling non-linear equations, making it hard to spot errors—she jumped straight to sketching graphs without classifying the equation type.

In Year 10, messy layout during bearings questions led to confusion interpreting worded trigonometry scenarios and missed key details.

A senior Chemistry student often forgot essential formulas not listed on the sheet, resulting in time wasted flipping through notes mid-problem.

Meanwhile, a Year 8 learner hesitated to write down steps for algebraic rearrangement, fearing mistakes would be visible; this slowed progress and reduced confidence with each new topic.

Recent Achievements

One Edgeworth tutor recently noticed a Year 11 student, who had previously struggled with algebraic equations involving multiple coefficients, now tackling them with far less hesitation and making fewer errors.

In another session, a high schooler working on financial mathematics showed a new willingness to attempt problems independently before seeking guidance—she used to wait for hints but now gives it a real try first.

Meanwhile, a younger student who'd found expanding brackets confusing last month is now able to expand expressions with both positive and negative signs accurately; she completed the final set of questions without any help this week.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Sugar Valley Library, kirantakamyari—or at your child's school (with permission), like Edgeworth Public School.
