I think the most important thing a chemistry tutor should do is understand the learning pattern and style of the student. Every student learns differently, simply using one method is not enough. As I try to see, I try to understand how different students learn and understand different content. Through the process, i try to find what is the most…

There a many key things that I believe a chemistry tutor can do to create a positive impact on their students. I find it important for students to know and feel that their individual needs are heard, understood and attended to. It would be most important to follow through all plans, tailored to their needs, with actions that allow the students to realise their progress. By also validating their strengths and identifying their self-limiting beliefs, I…

The most important thing is to be patient and understanding of the student. I believe that in order to teach efficiently, those two core values must be practiced first for the student to truly engage and advance in the learning material. Contrastingly, in a practical sense, the most important thing we can do is to ensure the student understands…

Inside Endeavour HillsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Oliver practiced reading and converting between 12-hour and 24-hour time formats, as well as worked through multiplication tables and began learning about powers and square roots.

For Year 8, Jacinta explored key Legal Studies topics including the principles of justice and the hierarchy of law-making—using diagrams to clarify differences between sectors of parliament—and completed practice questions for an upcoming SAC.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Hayley revised quadratic expressions and equations, focusing on solving a range of algebraic problems from her current maths unit.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 English, one student's SAC responses relied heavily on dot points and brief notes, which made answers unclear and incomplete—"full sentences are needed for clarity," the tutor observed.

In Year 9 maths, skipping written working when solving fraction conversions meant small errors weren't caught early; "she tried to do it all in her head before writing anything down."

A Year 12 student's essay planning was rushed, leading to missing evidence and weak structure.

When asked to edit drafts, another senior student only corrected surface-level grammar issues but left deeper problems untouched. This left essays feeling unfinished during class discussions.

Recent Achievements

One Endeavour Hills tutor noticed that a Year 10 student who used to second-guess herself in maths tests is now asking clarifying questions during lessons and even requested extra practice problems, which she worked through independently—something she previously avoided.

In another session, a Year 11 student demonstrated real initiative by completing her homework ahead of schedule and began working on upcoming topics without prompting, after previously struggling to keep up.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who was once hesitant about reading aloud now volunteers to read passages during lessons and picks out tricky words with minimal support.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Endeavour Hills Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Islamic College of Sport - South-East Campus.
