A tutor is more than just one that imparts knowledge. Any textbook, podcast or Youtube Video can do that. The power of a good tutor is in his or her ability to strengthen and encourage their students, so helping them gain some momentum to keep persevering in subjects that are challenging them. This means patiently helping the students understand…

Firstly, it is a tutor's responsibility to give the student their dollar's worth; meaning, the tutor has to be competent and is able to customize their teaching methods to the learning needs of students. Next, the tutor has to ignite the passion in every student to learn subjects that they find challenging, problematic, or boring to be…

I believe that tutors are able to give a student more focus than a teacher can in a class room. There are many students who are unable to learn when teachers give generalised explanations of concepts to an entire class. I believe that a tutor is able to give differing perspectives and more focus to a singular student. I think my greatest strength…

In most cases, students are seeking tutoring because they are not sure that they will achieve the grades they require in their summative assessments. I believe that most students can learn, and learn to pass assessments. I have always believed it is our role to assist student to get to their goals. Sometime this means individualized learning. I…

Listen to their struggling points and help them step by step to figure out what they're doing wrong and give them some confidence for how to proceed when they're by themselves. Sometimes all that's required is being walked through how to approach and solve a problem. Additionally, giving them resources (or helping them make their own) like notes…

Education is incredibly important. I believe that a tutor who understands and helps their client will produce the best results. A student who feels incorporated and integral to the learning experience will learn much faster than one who feels removed. I am patient and understanding. I can move through information fast or slow down. I am…

Inside FalconTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Ethan worked through adding and subtracting money using real-life shopping scenarios, as well as converting between 12-hour and 24-hour time formats.

In Year 9, Olivia focused on surface area calculations for both square-based triangular prisms and rectangular prisms, reviewing exam concepts with step-by-step breakdowns.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Ben tackled algebraic techniques including solving simultaneous equations and practiced probability questions using Venn diagrams to visualise outcomes.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, a student overlooked key details when converting between 24-hour and 12-hour time, slowing progress ("she overlooks little details among topics").

During Year 10 test preparation, another student missed marks by not allocating enough time to analyze each question before answering.

In Year 6, incomplete working out during addition and subtraction made it difficult to spot errors or understand their own process later.

One Year 9 student hesitated to write full answers for worded questions—this meant steps were missing when checking back. Each of these moments led to confusion or lost marks under assessment conditions.

Recent Achievements

One Falcon tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 10 student who, after weeks of skipping steps in algebra, is now carefully writing out all his working and double-checking answers without reminders.

A Year 12 student had been struggling to break down assignment tasks, but last session she took the lead in explaining her own approach before asking for feedback—something she'd hesitated to do previously.

Meanwhile, a younger student surprised everyone by confidently converting between 24-hour and 12-hour time formats on her own, finishing every question in the set with hardly any errors.
