We have all had the experience of a "bad teacher" and we know it's not pleasant. Often the teacher is simply a bad match for that particular student rather than being a "bad teacher" in general but in either case the student has a serious problem. This is why many parents contact us for a private tutor - their child just can't "get it" when their teacher is teaching. It's incredible how one explanation results in more confusion whereas another results in that "aha" feeling we all love so much! It is really a matter of getting the "right" tutor and not the "best" one. We see this every day in our work. A tutor might have hundreds of hours of experience and might have received dozens of testimonials from students, however, even such a tutor doesn't click with all students. Every tutor gets bad feedback sometimes. It's all about getting the right fit and this is what we do!

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Molly has finished the year on a strong positive note, having shown improvement in all areas of maths. Importantly, confidence, talking aloud and back checking have allowed other skills to flourish by providing ample opportunity to learn autonomously.
So far Tyler hasn't managed the discipline I would like to see regarding creating the daily revision habit. It's intended to be unintimidating (only 5mins, no writing required, start with just every 2nd or 3rd day), and it's incredibly efficient when done properly. It's crucial that he works on this because he needs to transfer facts on a page into ideas in his head.

Riley is extremely happy with Andre. My son tells me "this guy's great ! Every time I call him because I have a question, he answers !" So thank you.
Sam Timbrell has worked out very well for Gabby RE Math Tutoring so far. He is patient, explains things well, and he makes certain Gabby is not confused before moving on to the next issue. He is on time, courteous and has provided extra work and work sheets as needed and appropriate.
