Provide the student with confidence in their own learning ability. Helping students find learning methods that work for THEM, which they can continue to use in the future is the most important thing, and also the most satisfying thing for me as tutor. I think one of the most important things a tutor can do is help students become independent learners rather than making them dependent on the tutor. I do not believe in spoon-feeding answers all the time. Instead, I believe a tutor should guide students, encourage them to think independently, and help them build confidence in their own…

The most important thing a tutor can do is be patient. Every student learns differently and at their own pace, and if a concept doesn't click the first time, it's on the tutor to keep finding new ways to explain it rather than getting frustrated or rushing them. My biggest strength is being creative in how I explain things. If one explanation…

In my opinion, the first thing a tutor can do to help a student is to first listen to them and take their concerns very seriously. It may be a very simple doubt, but the moment they accept that we are ready to listen to their concerns, we automatically grab their attention and build up a rapport with them. Another critical aspect of tutoring is to…

I think the most important things a tutor can do are to build the student’s confidence, make learning less stressful, and explain things in a way that actually makes sense to them. It’s also important to be patient, encouraging, and flexible, every student learns differently, so a tutor should be able to adapt to their needs and help them feel…

I believe that cultivating critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and a growth mindset are important. I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is identify each student's individuality and therefore handle them uniquely, with utmost care and understanding. It is also extremely important for the tutor to be aware of verbal or behavioral feedback received from the student, and therefore be able to modify their teaching…

As each student is unique it is important to assess their level of learning, identify the areas where they are lacking and then provide suitable tutoring. While teaching a tutor must implement a teaching plan which suits the student. A tutor must not only look into academics but also the general wellbeing of the student. My excellent communication…

A tutor should be able to inspire a student. By giving knowledge, a tutor should not just make a student achieve a higher grade. Instead, I believe that a tutor should inspire students, stimulate their brains, challenge them and also spark curiosity. This way, a student will have natural interest towards the subject and will be motivated to learn…

In my opinion, the most important thing, that a tutor can do for the student is to understand the problems which the student is facing, and then come up with a plan on how to overcome these problems. Apart from this, understanding the knowledge graph of the student, and teaching him/her according to the pattern, which they understand the most, is…

The most important thing a tutor - or any teacher - can do is spark a genuine desire to learn, rather than making learning feel like a requirement. When students are encouraged to personally connect with a subject, its quirks and intricacies, they stop seeing learning as a chore and start seeing it as something they truly enjoy. I'm really good at…

On a surface level outlook a tutor is just meant to teach their students and be on their way. But in my perspective, there is more to it than just teaching. A tutor is about being a capable mentor that identifies the student's weaknesses in class and mentally so there is always something the student can work upon both academically and mentally.…

Tutors can make the students to understand the topic from the scratch, so as to make sure the kid is able to solve the problems on its own. Inside FlemingtonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Alice worked on calculating mean, median, mode, and range in statistics as well as identifying angles with symmetry using visual examples.

In Year 9, Bita practised solving linear equations and worked through a worksheet on mean, median and mode provided by her teacher.

For Year 10, Laura focused on revising algebra and graphing techniques from the Year 11 curriculum to strengthen her foundation for upcoming studies.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student preparing for a statistics test hesitated to share which probability topics felt hardest, making it difficult to target weak spots; her notebook was also missing dates, so tracking progress became confusing.

In Year 9 algebra, as one tutor put it, "he skipped showing steps in simplification, which hid sign errors"—extra time was then spent hunting mistakes instead of building confidence.

A Year 7 student left homework incomplete before lessons and struggled with organizing exercise books and teacher feedback requests.

During Year 12 revision, reluctance to attempt unfamiliar graph questions led to gaps ahead of the upcoming test.

Recent Achievements

One Flemington tutor noticed a big change in a Year 11 student who used to freeze up on tough algebra questions—now, after working through some challenging Further Maths problems, he confidently explained his reasoning and tackled even the trickiest ones without hesitation.

In another session, a Year 9 student who'd struggled to distinguish between explanatory and response variables was able to clearly verbalise his thought process and correctly identify each one during practice.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who once guessed at answers now talks through her multiplication steps out loud and checks her work before moving on.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Flemington Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kensington Community High School.
