The most important thing an economics tutor can give to a student, I would say is give hope and ease the path they are taking. I have been teaching and mentoring for more than 7 years, and it is nice to see where my students have reached. It is a really nice feeling, when you know your students are doing well in terms of education as well as the…

I believe in these times students lack the confidence and motivation that studying requires. They are continuously forced to learn new concepts rapidly. I am an attentive individual who specializes in perfecting a steady and solid base before moving to complex information. in this way, the student is confident to create steady incremental progress…

I believe forming a mentor-mentee connection with the student is important in their learning experience as this enhances their motivation to learn and come to class every week. Also, I believe just being there for a student no matter what day or what time it is, is very important. As a fresh graduate myself, I know how stressful it can be…

A tutor can make a huge difference in a student’s learning experience by trying to help students to build a better understanding and not just memorizing the concepts. My strengths are: - Taking difficult concepts, making them simple and relatable to each person. - Each person has their own way to learn, so I adjust my teaching methods to fit…

I believe the most important thing an economics tutor can do for a student is not only to clearly and effectively teach content but also to share their knowledge and their own personal experiences from the past. This allows students to remain calm, focused and prepared for the hurdles they are yet to overcome. This combined with effective teaching…

The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to never give up on them. The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to understand how the student learns. By knowing the students learning preferences and ability the tutor can tailor their approach to individuals rather than utilising a blanket approach, which can often leave some students behind. My strengths lie in the ability to communicate ideas or…

Inside GlenfieldTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Daniel focused on circle area and perimeter, followed by practising volume of prisms using visual examples.

For Year 10, Priya worked through simultaneous equations and quadratic equations, applying these to exam-style questions.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Tom tackled logarithms alongside algebraic manipulation, with a focus on breaking down complex problems into manageable steps.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student struggled to create finance equations for loans, as noted: "needs to complete maths assignment and work more on financial maths questions," but had not completed key homework, making it hard to build fluency.

In Year 8 algebra, skipping written steps caused sign errors; a tutor observed "he must make his working out clear, and do all the steps before coming to his answer."

Meanwhile, a Year 3 student often left addition and subtraction tasks unfinished—sometimes forgetting materials—which slowed progress in class.

Confidence dropped when questions became difficult, leading one student to guess rather than show their thinking.

Recent Achievements

A Glenfield tutor noticed a big shift in one Year 10 student who used to make frequent mistakes on algebra problems; after practising clearer working out, he now finishes questions with fewer errors and actively asks for help when stuck instead of guessing.

In chemistry, a senior high school student surprised herself by independently tackling tough amide and amine exam questions she'd struggled with last term.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner who previously hesitated to speak up started verbalising confusion during area lessons—she even tackled circle area questions enthusiastically and asked for extra practice without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Glenquarie Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Hurlstone Agricultural High School.
