The most important provision of a tutor is to be able to support the student along their education journey in becoming better in the subject at hand, as well as overcoming learning obstacles in struggle areas along the way. However, this can only be successfully accomplished with well bound trust between the tutor and the student, and an ability…

In my opinion, it would primarily be the ability to understand that each student is different and thus needs guidance to cater to their own unique set of skills. I believe my strength would be my inquisitiveness for more knowledge and learning and an attitude to learn while being open to exchange knowldge on the…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is providing a space for students where they are not uncomfortable for being unsure or not knowing how to tackle a question or problem. Just being able to be someone who they can be unsure around without any judgement. My strengths would include maths and being able to provide a comfortable and…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is make him/her confident in their own abilities. Children tend to lose confidence in themselves if they achieve low grades, but I want to be able to teach kids in a way where they enjoy learning and also look forward to each session. I plan on doing this by incorporating relatable examples and…

I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to understand them. Many kids struggle at school and with their parents , be it academically or otherwise, this could be due to a number of reasons. However, from my personal experience I have found it to be the lack to communication between the child and the adults that…

Remembering that students are human too, supporting them not just during our hour together each week, but helping them stay on track and confident when they're studying on their own outside our sessions. With every concept I introduce, I reinforce it through the student applying it themselves, making sure it's genuinely understood before moving on…

I think the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to help them understand concepts clearly, build their confidence, and create a supportive learning environment. It’s not just about giving answers, but explaining things in a way that makes sense to the student and adapting to how they learn best. Patience is really important,…

Tutoring shouldn't just be limited to teaching the theory and just scribbling down some sums. I believe, at the end of the day, both the student and the tutor should have shared a learning experience which helps to reach their maximum. Motivating a student to reach the best in academics and their life, is the most important responsibility of a…

I believe building up the students confidence and making them think that they are capable of achieving great things and doing better. Also a tutor needs to adapt based on each students strengths and weaknesses. We need to use different explanation techniques based on the students skills and abilities so that they understand concepts better. A…

They should also frequently praise students as a source of motivation and development of tutor-student relationships. This helps foster an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I believe my main…

- Inspire a sense of purpose and ambition in students: It is a sense of purpose that gives the student passion and motivation to study well, hence defining their academic success. Local Reviews

I am extremely pleased with EzyMath Tutoring. My daughter needed a few tutorials to brush up on her maths going into Year 7. Her tutor, Sam Wise, is an excellent tutor. He is very easy going and patient. Sam taught Jemma with care and patience and made everything easy for her to understand. I would recommend EzyMaths to any parent whose child needs any type of maths tutoring, whether it be basic or advanced. Thankyou EzyMath and Sam!

Inside HallamTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Zoe worked through the Pythagoras theorem, applying it to solve right-angled triangle problems, and practised calculating areas and volumes of cylinders and cones.

For Year 10, Jay revised algebra skills by expanding and simplifying equations before tackling more complex quadratic expressions with fractions and multiple variables.

In VCE Chemistry, Priya solved galvanic cell questions using half-cell diagrams and calculations, then completed volumetric analysis exercises involving titration steps and related maths.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student often handed in homework incomplete, such as submitting only an introduction and one body paragraph for a full essay task; as noted, "had a week to complete one essay, only wrote introduction and one body paragraph."

In Year 11 English, another student did not edit thoroughly—errors that could have been fixed on review remained in the final submission.

For a Year 9 analysis task, paragraphs lacked evidence and depth because annotation during reading was unclear, making it difficult to structure strong responses later.

These process gaps led to last-minute scrambles and underdeveloped written work.

Recent Achievements

One Hallam tutor noticed a Year 11 student who'd struggled with independent problem-solving now working through equations entirely on his own by the end of their session.

In English, a Year 9 student who previously missed deadlines finished her creative writing homework early and made fewer grammar mistakes than before.

A younger primary student, new to tackling spelling tests, showed clear progress—scoring higher this week and correctly identifying tricky words that had caused trouble in earlier lessons.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Bunjil Place Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Hallam Secondary College.
