I believe one of the most important thing a tutor can do is give the struggling students a build of confidence and inspire them to achieve anything. In order to achieve that, we as tutor need to be approachable, caring and have patience. patience, good communication with students and great motivator for the students to accomplish their goals. I…

I believe that letting a student know that I care for her/him is essential to earn her/his trust and full attention. As a tutor, I will also make sure to plan my approach in a way that will best fit a specific student because every child is different and they have different needs. I, myself, love studying and I will try my best to pass that…

A tutor’s main role is to help a student understand and build confidence in what they’re learning. This means being patient, providing clear explanations, and offering encouragement when things get tough. It’s also important to identify the student’s or learners strengths and weaknesses so we can focus on what really matters for their…

This is because, with empathy and encouragement, students will perform better as they are more engaged and motivated in subjects they are studying. Furthermore, a tutor should give strategies…

I consider comprehension and confidence in one's skills to be the most crucial thing a tutor should endeavour for their students to grasp. Once a student's comprehension level reaches a certain stage, their progress will be much faster and smoother. Whilst also their confidence becomes a fuel of reinforcement for their drive in achieving their…

Firstly, being kind, patient and listening to the student matters the most. This is because not everyone is the same, not everyone has the same capacity to understand and grasp the concept. One student may understand it in a minute, whereas another may take 10. So its very important that the tutor is kind, patient and listens to the student.…

For the majority of students I have met, a large proportion approach their studies disinterested. Thus, the tutor’s most crucial responsibility is not only to effectively convey the subject matter, it is to do it in a way which sparks engagement. This extends further for theoretical subjects such as chemistry, where the tutor assumes a greater…

To be supportive and assist in their learning, and help them find the best way to study I think i'm very encouraging when I teach and I also do my best to help students find the answers themselves instead of just giving them answers consistently. I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is understand that each student is different and learns best in different ways and at different paces. I also firmly believe that engaging the student by doing things like connecting concepts to the real world or even to the student's own interests is paramount for the overall retention…

Be friendly to the student, show the student that they are confident in them, allow the student to think for him/herself. A tutor should understand that each…

Making them feel safe when answering questions, even if they get the answer wrong. Because it's learning from your mistakes that allow you to learn. All the students have unique learning methods so as a tutor it is essential that we take that into consideration and orient the classes in a way that is comprehensible and engaging for that child. A student looks up to a tutor for support and guidance. Hence, it is important for a tutor to be encouraging. A tutor must also be able to identify areas or misconception that requires remediation. Local Reviews

The whole process of organizing a math tutor for my son was a very easy and smooth experience. After submitting my query, I received a call shortly afterward asking for some basic information. We met with our tutor for the first time in math in less than a week and a half. Our tutor was wonderful and greatly benefited my son. We have scheduled additional sessions to continue the assistance. I would highly recommend this service to anyone looking for a math tutor.

Inside Hampton ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Ethan practiced **converting fractions to percentages** and also worked on telling time using worded problems.

Year 8 student Ben focused on **finding the circumference of circles and sectors**, then began solving basic linear equations by applying reverse operations.

In Year 10, Erik tackled **multiplying matrices** and reviewed network connections, forming and interpreting networks with matrix representation.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student was encouraged to "work neatly in his book so that at the end of the year he can understand his own notes," but often left working out incomplete or unclear, which made revision more difficult.

In Year 11 maths, another student relied heavily on their calculator for multiple choice practice ("was advised to mostly use his calculator for exam 1"), missing opportunities to solidify core skills by hand.

A Year 7 learner sometimes forgot set homework, causing delays when moving on to new topics and requiring extra review time. The result: time spent clarifying basics instead of advancing.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Hampton Park noticed Erik, a high school student, now attempts most maths problems independently and has begun developing his own strategies under exam conditions—a real shift from relying heavily on guidance before.

Meanwhile, Aditi (also in high school) was once hesitant to start writing tasks but now takes feedback on board and adds more detail to her paragraphs after each session.

In primary years, Reda recently moved from needing help with tree diagrams to drawing them solo and applying general knowledge when tackling new questions.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Hampton Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like River Gum Primary School.
