The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be loving. Actually caring for the student's academic success will not only make them more likely to succeed, but it will help them go beyond to reaching a scholarly level. My two leading strengths are that I know how to teach to make difficult subjects more easy to understand and I am…

The most important thing a tutor could do for a student is show them that every student responds to education in the same way or at the same pace and whichever way they process information is perfectly normal. The goal is to maximize learning, in the way that works best for the students. I have seen this significantly reduce academic frustrations…

To make the students be clear of the basics which helps the students in the long run and also to be polite with them as not all students have the same level of understanding, and each student has different pace at which they learn so we need to give them as much time as possible to learn better. I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is build their confidence while also making sure they don’t develop resentment toward the content. By adapting to their learning style and keeping things engaging, a tutor can help students see the value in what they’re learning. When students start to enjoy the subject, they’re…

I think a tutor has to be such kind of person who can unwillingly be able to establish himself/ herself as a role model to follow which will guarantee the success of the the student in the future. I believe the most important things a tutor can do are to build the student's confidence, tailor their teaching to the student's learning style, and create a safe space where questions are encouraged. A good tutor doesn't just help a student understand content, they help them feel capable, motivated, and supported throughout their learning…

I think the greatest gift a tutor can provide to a student is support. School can often be an isolating and intimidating experience, and often students, despite being remarkably talented, feel afraid to take risks and go beyond what is expected of them. A tutor can also make the learning experience far more rewarding and enjoyable. Students feel…

Tutoring can be challenging, especially when it comes to motivating your learner. You see the potential they have, and they often hear about the potential they have, but they do not feel as though they got what it takes. Living in such a busy and demanding time can often make us feel the time constraints on everything we do and we expect our…

Teach obviously! but i think if the tutor can make the lessons as fun as possible so that the student looks forward to them as something enjoyable rather than as purely work, the best results will occur. The most important things I can provided to the student are an approachable, enriching learning environment. An enriching learning environment is like a petri-dish full of nutrients. Inside HomebushTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Saner focused on **Business Studies topics including Operations, Marketing influences, and the Finance syllabus points**, as well as tackling exam-style questions; in Maths, recent lessons covered Networking, Critical Path Analysis, and **revising errors from her last assessment**.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Isaac worked through **essay writing techniques using Deltora Quest as a base text** and explored literary devices such as sensory imagery and personification in both reading and creative writing.

For Year 6, lessons with Mia addressed **analysis of advertisements for class assessment** and understanding different types of humour through targeted homework tasks.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student struggled with consistent revision in Business Studies, often neglecting to create summary notes or complete practice papers; as one tutor observed, "more focus on maths would be ideal," but daily practice was repeatedly missed.

In English for Year 9, reliance on leading questions meant written analysis remained shallow and dependent—prompts were needed even for basic context explanations.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 student left lesson tasks unfinished due to overwhelm from other assignments, pushing English work to the last minute. This led to rushed drafts and missed opportunities for feedback before assessment deadlines arrived.

Recent Achievements

A Homebush tutor noticed a Year 11 student who previously struggled with critical path analysis now tackling complex business networks independently and even revising content more thoroughly between sessions.

Another high school student, after hesitating to ask for help, is now clearly identifying which maths sections he finds tricky and actively seeks guidance during tutoring.

In Year 5 English, one student who used to give very brief answers is now regularly stating their own opinions about texts and can explain how characters feel in stories.

Last week, that same student wrote out examples of personification without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Strathfield Council Library Service—or at your child's school (with permission), like The McDonald College.
