I believe that teachers/tutors make the greatest impact on a developing child or young adult's mind. Apart from the child's family, a teacher/tutor has the most influential face to face contact with a student, where it be as a mentor or as a friend. Hence, I strongly feel that tutors have the opportunity and responsibility to educate and develop a…

I believe that an english tutor should be able to help the student both grow as a person and mentally with their learning. Inside Horningsea ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Alex practiced solving linear equations and interpreting coordinate graphs, building confidence through step-by-step examples.

For Year 10, Emily worked on algebraic indices and roots as well as applying BODMAS to simplify complex expressions.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student James reviewed Module 7 chemistry topics by tackling hydrocarbon nomenclature and identifying properties of alcohols using summary tables.

Recent Challenges

In Year 3 English, forgetting to complete homework led to less practice with spelling and sentence structure—one note said, "needs more work on spelling and doing his homework."

For a Year 7 student, untidy long division and unclear working made it hard for her to read her own maths solutions; this caused confusion when checking answers.

A Year 11 Chemistry lesson revealed difficulties organizing complex responses: "needs to work on expressing in a structured manner by doing practice HSC questions."

In each case, missing or messy written work meant time was lost re-reading or clarifying instead of building new skills.

Recent Achievements

In Horningsea Park, a Year 11 student, Reuben, who previously hesitated to try harder maths questions, is now attempting every problem and even brings his own examples to sessions.

In Year 9 English, Sarah used to need lots of help planning her narratives but recently built her own story with minimal assistance, showing she's more willing to take risks with her ideas.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who often made spelling mistakes can now spell them from memory when asked out loud.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Carnes Hill Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like John Edmondson High School.
