Tutors are an extra resource students can invest in for their education, which makes it important that the environment they provide to the students allow for failures and not discourage students from studying due to their past grades. In the teaching phase, student-focused teaching would be my method of teaching, which is to discover what the students need instead of dumping knowledge, whilst showing respect and understanding. When a student raises concerns about a question, which I assume in maths and sciences usually composites of concepts from multiple areas of study, I…

A tutor must give a student confidence and help them to not be overwhelmed by new topics. Once a student believes they can learn something, it is much easier to actually learn it. Tutors must also be personal and understand what method of teaching is most effective for each individual. As a recently graduated student, I am able to understand how…

I think its most important a tutor supports students while they are first learning an unfamiliar topic, helps them practice to gain confidence, and ensures they are able to perform independently by providing constructive feedback. I have a practical approach and have mentored students of ages 18 to 55. With mathematics and physics education there…

Definitely the most important thing a tutor can do is to help them understand the content that they are studying in order to help them reach their goals. I am able to communicate effectively and will therefore be able to impart my knowledge onto the student. I have had recent experience with year 12 exams and have done well in them. I will be able…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to listen to their needs for their subject and pinpoint the exact cause for their frustration/ troubles. By first realizing the area of improvement time is used more efficiently for studying. Next the tutor should be able to connect and communicate with the student to understand their…

A tutor must be patient and listen to how the student feels and explains their material. Without this we can't understand where the gaps are in the students knowledge OR whether they really do understand, but just in a different way. I have infinite patience, I can adjust my communication style, and I when faced with something unfamiliar I have…

I think the main role of a tutor is encouraging confidence in their students. I have found that most of the time my students know the answer, they're just too afraid to say it. Or they may be on the right track and need a little guidance to fully understand a concept, making problem solving skills another thing that I try to pass on to my…

I think a common misconception about a tutor's job is that their whole purpose is to get their tutee an A+. While this is obviously a wonderful side-effect of tutoring, the most important thing a tutor can do is to develop and improve a student's ability to problem-solve, learn, and work effectively to complete their academic goals. The difference…

Acoording to me the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is make a positive impact on his life by not forcing the society standards for learning and growing as every child has a different mind and way of approach to things around them. A tutor is one of the best person who can analyse this and make learning a creative activity instead…

Cater to their individual needs - some people fall behind in school not because they are "less intelligent", but because of the "one shoe fits all" approach followed by many of our schools. It is important distinguish each person as an individual learner, and adjust accordingly. I also strongly believe in comprehension over memorisation.…

First of all, it is the responsibilty of a tutor to fulfil his course requirements professionally and in such a way so as to not only develop an understanding of the concepts taught, but also inculcate critical thinking to analyse the taught concepts. Secondly, students are the future of any nation. Teaching good behavior and respect for others in…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is relate to their learning. I think the most important quality to bring to tuition is a sense of drive to motivate students. Often High school students are unaware of the importance or usefulness of academics and I believe it is important to also educate them on why it is important to achieve good grades. High academic achievement can give a student a plethora of pathways in…

The whole process was very easy. Jacques is a wonderful tutor who has instilled a love of maths in my daughter. Something I thought I'd never see. I have recommended EzyMath Tutoring to many other parents like myself who were despairing over their child's poor results in the subject.

Inside KedronTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Brodie practised converting between percentages, fractions, and decimals, and explored number patterns by identifying sequences.

In Year 10, Hannah tackled simplifying powers of variables and rational numbers while also working through her mock test to prepare for an upcoming exam.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Jack focused on advanced calculus skills such as integration by substitution and parts, along with using trigonometric identities within integration problems.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 Maths, a student repeatedly missed crucial details in multi-step questions; as one tutor noted, "she would forget a key part of the question and only realise after some time."

In Year 12 Physics, another struggled to identify which integration technique to use—confusing substitution with by-parts—which led to lost marks even when concepts were familiar.

For a Year 4 student, incomplete homework was noted: "Ethan didn't do his homework," which meant less opportunity for feedback.

A Year 8 learner's messy layout made working hard to follow: "write a bit bigger so it's easier to read," the tutor urged, as cramped writing hid errors during revision.

Recent Achievements

One Kedron tutor noticed a Year 10 student who used to freeze up on multiple-choice maths questions now actively eliminates wrong options and, when stuck, works backwards from the answers—a big shift from guessing or giving up.

In Year 12 physics, another student has moved past confusion with time dilation; after finally spotting where he misunderstood, he can now solve paradox questions independently.

Meanwhile, a primary student who struggled with visualising 3D shapes showed clear improvement after using LEGO models—her test scores have been steadily rising and she quickly figured out why not every rhombus is a square.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Grange Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kedron State School.
