The most important things a tutor can do for a student are to provide clear guidance, foster a supportive learning environment, and inspire confidence in the student's abilities. A tutor should personalise their teaching approach to suit the student’s individual needs, helping them to understand difficult concepts at their own pace.…

The most important thing that a tutor can do for students is to listen, which helps us understand their needs and enables us to help them effectively. I also think preparation on a tutor's part is a very important part of the relationship with a student. I would consider myself to be a great listener, which comes in handy in tutoring and I my…

A tutor's most important role is to build a student's confidence and clarify complex concepts. A tutor helps students develop problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of the subject by providing personalised support and encouragement. Most importantly, a tutor should create a positive and motivating environment that empowers students to…

I always work with the student/parent initially to establish a goal (however broad or specific) to aim towards in order to develop an action plan and help their students to achieve results. Secondly, I create such a plan of action and apply it, making the necessary tweaks to improve it as we go along. Finally, I always remain adaptable to change…

The most important thing I would say would be guidance. Providing students with guidance on the correct study habits, as well as the necessary skills to succeed in high school. Having done tutoring previously, and have had 8 years of public speaking competitions, I have the necessary skills to communicate with my students, where I can alter my…

Rather than just teaching them a lesson, I think the most important one would be to let them figure out the best way of studying that works for them. I have tried multiple study methods and none worked for me, and when I did figure it out, it has been one of the best things that I have done during my HSC. I want to try to help students give them…

First, create an environment where students feel safe asking questions without judgment. Second, adapt to each student's individual needs rather than following a rigid approach. Third, focus on building independence, not just helping with immediate tasks, but equipping students with strategies and confidence they can use in future learning. I'm…

Personally, I recognize that there are many responsibilities that a diligent tutor must fulfill, these include: - patience (no matter how many times a student doesn't understand a concept, a tutor should be patient and keep trying) - A supportive environment (students shouldn't feel judged and should have the confidence to openly ask…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is being patience, consistent and most of all understanding. I don't easily get irritated and have a…

Make them feel like asking questions is normal, not embarrassing. A lot of students already know what they don't understand , they just need a space where it's safe to say it out loud. Beyond that, I focus on building independent thinking rather than just drilling answers, so students can handle questions they haven't seen before when it counts. I…

Local Reviews

We signed up with a tutor who didn't work out and the EzyMath team worked hard to find us a new one as fast a possible. Their communication during the process was great and they kept me informed about how they were going to find the right tutor for my child.
Kim, Kellyville

Inside KellyvilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Sofia focused on indices, scientific notation, and significant figures, as well as financial maths applications through targeted textbook problems.

In Year 9, Riaan worked on factorising and expanding quadratics and deepened his understanding of trigonometric functions by applying them to worded problems and geometry questions.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Olivia practised calculating the distance and midpoint of a line segment and explored bivariate data concepts including correlation and constructing frequency histograms.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 algebra, one student's written work lacked clear structure, making it difficult to spot errors in factorising non-monic quadratics—he skipped showing steps in expanding (a-b)², which hid sign mistakes.

For a Year 10 student revising for exams, revision focused mainly on familiar index laws while harder questions were left undone; this meant the leap to complex surds and log rules was unsteady.

Meanwhile, in Year 6 English, a strong plan didn't translate into organised paragraphs when writing independently, with ideas drifting off-topic. The hesitation led to frustration as completed drafts felt disconnected from initial outlines.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Kellyville recently saw Keenan achieve a big turnaround: after previously lower marks, he scored 80 and 76 percent in his latest exams, showing much stronger understanding and fewer "silly mistakes."

In Year 10 maths, one student who used to get stuck on harder quadratic equations can now solve them confidently—even using the quadratic formula independently. Meanwhile, a primary student who often rushed through writing tasks began noticing and correcting spelling errors on his own as he wrote, instead of waiting for feedback—he even caught himself before handing work in.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Stanhope Garden Library/ Dennis Johnson Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kellyville Public School.
