While providing valuable academic help is the most important thing a tutor can do for a student, I also think acting as a mentor-like figure is vital for their growth. Being a kind, encouraging, yet disciplined individual in their life will not only allow them to achieve academic success, but also improve their personality and qualities. I am…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to firstly cover any doubts that they may have in their work, then to work on those doubts. A students doubts are the "walls" that stop them from fully understanding the questions that come at them and as a tutor it is important to both break down these walls that the student may have,…

Personally, I recognize that there are many responsibilities that a diligent tutor must fulfill, these include: - patience (no matter how many times a student doesn't understand a concept, a tutor should be patient and keep trying) - A supportive environment (students shouldn't feel judged and should have the confidence to openly ask…

Patient, it’s very easy for people to become impatient with those they’re teaching but people who are able to hold themselves to other individual paces always end up having the most significant impact. Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as an understanding of struggle and experience of overcoming the adversity of being…

As a tutor, my main focus is on getting to know each student personally – their strengths, weaknesses and what they want to achieve. I feel as though a comfortable space where they feel comfortable exploring ideas, asking questions, and even making mistakes is something important as through mistakes you can learn. Offering guidance,…

The most important role of a tutor is to be a reliable pillar of support and a trusted source of strength and knowledge. Students should feel comfortable asking questions, even if they think they might sound “silly,†without fear of judgment. Creating a safe and supportive environment is essential, as students can be hesitant to ask for help…

To create a strong teacher and student bond and a trusting relationship. As I believe the student will have a sense of security, that they are in a safe space. This will allow them to be more likely to open up. Ask more questions that they may feel hesitant to ask. This will create a closer rapport between the student and teacher. I believe that I…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to celebrate a student's success, whether it is big or small. It builds a student's confidence and motivation to keep learning. Understand the feelings and character of different students. Some students who tutor may be gifted, however there are many also who may are demotivated and have a low-self esteem which causes them to believe they aren't good enough to excel. I believe tutors should change the perspective from studying from an extrinsic desire, for instance, marks…

When a student feels safe, understood, and not rushed, they're far more likely to engage, ask questions, and grow in confidence. The most important things a tutor can do are foster confidence, curiosity, and provide tailored support. By creating a positive, non-judgmental space, a tutor helps students feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes. Encouraging curiosity keeps learning engaging but also fun for both student and tutor. Finally, adapting to each student’s…

Make them feel like asking questions is normal, not embarrassing. A lot of students already know what they don't understand , they just need a space where it's safe to say it out loud. Beyond that, I focus on building independent thinking rather than just drilling answers, so students can handle questions they haven't seen before when it counts. I…

Local Reviews

We signed up with a tutor who didn't work out and the EzyMath team worked hard to find us a new one as fast a possible. Their communication during the process was great and they kept me informed about how they were going to find the right tutor for my child.
Kim, Kellyville

Inside KellyvilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Sofia focused on indices, scientific notation, and significant figures, as well as financial maths applications through targeted textbook problems.

In Year 9, Riaan worked on factorising and expanding quadratics and deepened his understanding of trigonometric functions by applying them to worded problems and geometry questions.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Olivia practised calculating the distance and midpoint of a line segment and explored bivariate data concepts including correlation and constructing frequency histograms.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 algebra, one student's written work lacked clear structure, making it difficult to spot errors in factorising non-monic quadratics—he skipped showing steps in expanding (a-b)², which hid sign mistakes.

For a Year 10 student revising for exams, revision focused mainly on familiar index laws while harder questions were left undone; this meant the leap to complex surds and log rules was unsteady.

Meanwhile, in Year 6 English, a strong plan didn't translate into organised paragraphs when writing independently, with ideas drifting off-topic. The hesitation led to frustration as completed drafts felt disconnected from initial outlines.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Kellyville recently saw Keenan achieve a big turnaround: after previously lower marks, he scored 80 and 76 percent in his latest exams, showing much stronger understanding and fewer "silly mistakes."

In Year 10 maths, one student who used to get stuck on harder quadratic equations can now solve them confidently—even using the quadratic formula independently. Meanwhile, a primary student who often rushed through writing tasks began noticing and correcting spelling errors on his own as he wrote, instead of waiting for feedback—he even caught himself before handing work in.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Stanhope Garden Library/ Dennis Johnson Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kellyville Public School.
