I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to instill confidence in them. If a tutor can build up their student in a way where the tutor is no longer a necessity for the student, than I believe the tutor has done their job. This confidence comes by reinforcing fundamental concepts to the student. I think patience is a…

I think the most important things a tutor can do are create a supportive learning environment, explain concepts in a way the student understands, and build their confidence. A good tutor helps students develop problem-solving skills, so they don't memorise the type of question, but HOW to do that question, which encourages them to think…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student are to build their confidence, foster a love for learning, and provide clear guidance. A tutor should create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, while also helping them develop problem-solving skills and independence in their studies.…

Communicating in a way in which the student can understand, and not being a “textbookâ€. Communication. Patience is one of the most important characteristics of a tutor .Never get annoyed that the student does not know something. I believe a good tutor will identify the students's learning style so that they are able to present information in a way that has the greatest effect. A good tutor should ascertain which building blocks the student is…

As a tutor there are many things that I can do to ensure my student feels well supported. I understand that each of my students are different and will have different needs. As a tutor, I will be responsible for ensuring I understand what my student is struggling with, where my student needs extra help and then doing my best to support them so they…

A tutor should be knowledgeable to be able to address all concerns of a student and check when unable to immediately answer a query. Additionally a tutor should be easy to talk to, allowing for untrained conversations between student and tutor. Finally, a tutor should be able to motivate their students, ridding them of the disbelief that they…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is actually listen to what they want. Although it may seem obvious, many tutors I've had in the past have not been beneficial as they only teach what they desire. By actually addressing the specific needs of students, I believe a tutor can make it most beneficial for students I feel that,…

In my perspective, an overall environment plays most crucial role for student. Tutor should be friendly with the student. Tutor should have great command on his/her particular subject. Tutor should know how to create pupil’s interest towards studies. As i have great command on my subject which I use to help individual student to make them…

Offer assistance in any way they can, being patient and empathetic to the students. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is buiding their confidence and enjoyment of a subject that they perhaps once struggled with. I believe that if a student comes into a tutoring session each day begrudgingly with absolute hatred of a subject they won’t absorb what is being taught as well because they’d rather be somewhere…

I believe that ultimately, helping students to achieve better grades in school is the most important thing, because that's what tutors are hired for. I believe it’s important to empathise with students rather then being sympathetic. Sympathy comes with one feeling a sense of emotion for sometime. Whereas, when in comes to tutoring, we need to empathise with students as it’ll allow us to position ourselves in their circumstances. Therefore, will give as a vision of a reality closer to what a…

Local Reviews

First contact, reply was within an hour. A tutor was assigned and progress was made immediately. We started with Math for Year 11 and progressed to English for Year 12, both subjects have given great results so far. Definitely recommend EzyMath Tutoring to future students in need of confidence.

Inside LavertonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student Harry practised solving and graphing linear inequalities, as well as simplifying algebraic expressions with a focus on factorising.

For Year 11, Maya worked through differentiation techniques in calculus and tackled applications of derivatives using exam-style questions.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Chloe focused on probability distributions, including binomial distribution problems and interpreting statistical results from practice assessments.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student struggled with forgetting key algebraic rules during classwork, leading to hesitancy and missed steps when solving equations.

In Year 11 Maths Methods, "timing during questions" was flagged as a concern—spending too long on familiar problems left little time for challenging sections, especially in differentiation tasks.

Another senior student relied heavily on their CAS calculator for fraction manipulation but then felt lost without it in non-calculator exams.

When exact values in trigonometry came up, skipped revision of formulas meant blank spots mid-test, leaving answers unfinished as the clock ran down.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Laverton recently noticed a big shift with a Year 12 student who used to freeze on worded maths problems—now, after working through strategies together, she's able to break down and solve these questions without prompting.

In Year 10, one student who had trouble applying the product and chain rules in calculus started picking them up much faster, showing more independence during practice sessions instead of waiting for hints.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who often forgot content from week to week surprised his tutor by recalling previous lessons and answering all ten basic algebra questions correctly without reminders.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Altona Meadows Library and Learning Centre—or at your child's school (with permission), like Seabrook Primary School.
