The most important thing a biology tutor can do for a student is elevate their understanding of a topic and inspire further learning. Rather than write their homework or assessments, tutors must guide their students to be the best they can be and produce the best work possible. I will help my student and help them grow in their studies. As a…

I believe the most important thing for a biology tutor is to be able to gauge the student's position and understanding of topics and to effectively be able to teach difficult concepts to them in a way that reduces their anxiety and helps them understand. Also making sure that they are comfortable and know that it is a safe space for them to ask…

As mentioned above a biology tutor has the opportunity to teach a lesson that is tailored specifically to a certain students strengths and weaknesses. As well as this a tutor has the opportunity to really motivate and instill confidence in a student. I think it is important that a tutor is someone that a student looks forward to seeing as both a…

Students require reassurance, it is the critical moments before tests and assessments that a students mental capacity is at its most fragile, they require a mentor capable of understanding them and ensuring they do not crumble when it matters most. Tutors need to know when to play the role of the teacher and when to play a friendlier role when…

The students already have teachers at school. Rather than being just another teacher figure, a biology tutor is also a mentor that travels on a journey alongside the student. As such, the most important things they can do for the child is to be compassionate, patient, and support the child with the goals they want to achieve. I am patient, I take…

Most important would definitely be effort towards a student. Local Reviews

I have used your services in the past as well and have witnessed both my daughters excel in the mathematical knowledge and skills. The attitude and enthusiasm of the tutors has been great. They are amicable and know the content taught. They have been very flexible with tutoring hours and are prompt with timing. My daughters feel comfortable and confident in their learning and are willing to take risks and challenges which was not evident prior to them commencing tutoring. Well Done!!!!!!!!!!

Inside LurneaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Nayeshehour focused on maths homework, showing solid understanding in decimals and using number lines to solve place value questions.

Year 9 student Mahmoud tackled NAPLAN revision with extra attention on algebra-based problems and clarifying homework queries as they arose.

For a Year 6 learner, multiplication and division strategies were reinforced, including working through worded questions using new step-by-step methods.

Recent Challenges

In Year 7 mathematics, one student left most homework questions incomplete and struggled to apply feedback from previous lessons—particularly in long division and algebra. As noted, "majority of the questions were left unanswered," making it hard to pinpoint where support is needed.

In a senior English session, another student forgot key materials for their assignment draft, which delayed progress on extended responses.

Messy written work in Year 8 graphing tasks also made errors harder to spot and correct during review.

After losing class notes on angles, confusion during test revision became clear: concepts could not be recalled under pressure.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Lurnea recently saw Mahmoud, a Year 8 student, quickly adapt to new division strategies—he had struggled with algorithm steps before but now completes problems with less confusion and more independence.

In Year 10 English, Sara previously hesitated when tackling short answer questions but is now approaching them more confidently after learning how to apply paragraph structures; she's begun planning her answers without prompting.

Meanwhile, Ariana in Year 6 surprised her tutor by voluntarily doing extra homework for tutoring for the first time, showing real initiative as she mastered simplifying fractions and long division.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Miller Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Francis Xavier's Catholic Primary School.
