No one has doubts about the importance of English in the Australian school curriculum. Not only is it a mandatory subject to complete year 12, but it's a useful life skill. Verbal and written language skills are crucial in the information age. Comprehending texts, textual analysis, structuring written reports, refining creative processes and applying a structure to them, articulating thoughts concisely ... these skills are going to be useful in just about any career path. Pamu talks aloud during our sessions and this makes it easy for me to see where he understands or not. As we are covering areas he has not yet covered in school, some of these learning strategies are not applicable, but he does asks me questions whenever he does not fully understand a topic.
I like how he will attempt homework to the best of his ability, even if in the end he comes to the conclusion that he can't do it. He is still somewhat easily distracted during sessions but it has definitely improved. He is always very eager and willing to learn during the sessions, and although he does work more slowly on average, it takes him some time before he seems daunted by it. His homework is always attempted to his best efforts and sessions are always done well, minor distractions notwithstanding.
Ilah's problem areas are graphing, number lines, linear relations, number patterns and recursion. The core of most of these problems is recognising trends in data and number sequences, and visualising these trends. These problems stem from gaps in her knowledge from missing some of the basic building blocks of linear problems that are covered in year 8 and 9. Her knowledge gaps are assumed knowledge and are likely why she has had problems with these topics.
Ashleigh is really enjoying the help Sunny is giving her & is starting to feel more confident within herself. Apparently even her teacher has remarked on her improvement. Ashleigh is keen to continue tutoring for the rest of the year. Sunny is a great tutor & matched perfectly with Ashleigh.
A quick note to advise you that we have already been pleasantly surprised with Liam's current test result. Josh is doing a great job, and the Liam is responding well. In fact , for the first time ever, Liam has surpassed his twin brother in a Maths exam.
Shannon did really well with her entrance exam and it was for that reason I contacted you. Her confidence has doubled since her tutoring with Daniel began, so for that I am truly grateful. Daniel was a great tutor who related well to Shannon. He has taught her some valuable strategies. He is also a lovely boy so he deserves a lot of credit. Thank you for the organised way you delivered the service. I have recommended your company to others so hopefully you will hear from them.
