I believe that tutors must have a good attitude and genuinely enjoy the concepts and the subject. Without this, the student will most likely find the tutoring bland and boring, which would reduce their engagement and their overall performance and knowledge in the subject. My experience as a tennis coach has shown me how different students learn at…

I guess that would be guiding them to make use of knowledge in real life situations by making connections between concepts and practice. By doing so, they learn something that is useful and could probably help them later in their lives. I think I am passionate about Matan, so I could try my best to make students consider this subject positively…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is prepare them for the unexpected. While it's important that the student can understand and solve general problems they may be presented with, the only way to achieve an A grade is to go above and beyond what is expected of them. This can only be achieved if the student is…

To listen to them and give them a chance to show their full potential. Also, to be energetic and full of enthusiasm as a child who is probably discouraged by the school a tutor who can give them the motivation they need will result in the student to succeed. - A tutor can change their way of thinking towards some subjects. For instance, during their school class, they might think the subject is boring. But if tutor, teach them in a way to make it more fun and interesting then they like and start to grasp the knowledge quickly. - So the tutor can change their perception and eventually guide them to…

Tutors should check for understanding as they go and constantly build confidence so that the student feels like their abilities are improving. When a student feels confident, wonderful things begin to happen. Their curiosity is ignited, and they are more likely to ask questions in class and read additional texts about things that interest them.…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to teach them how to teach themselves. Instead of spoon-feeding students the answers to specific questions, a good tutor helps students understand how to think to devise a solution for any problem they encounter. Confidence is the most important thing a tutor can bring to a student struggling with English. Inside MarionTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student James revised normal distribution concepts, calculating probabilities and exploring how variance and cumulative frequency shift as distributions change.

For Year 12, Aiden practised finding the area under curves using integration—especially between two functions—and applied these skills to kinematics problems involving displacement and velocity by interpreting different types of graphs.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Finn focused on random variables, working through mean and standard deviation calculations across various population sets to deepen understanding of probability in statistics.

Recent Challenges

Struggled to keep formulas for derivatives and anti-derivatives distinct—mixing them up during integration tasks meant that correct steps were sometimes lost, as one tutor noted, "he mixed up the stuff."

In Year 9 maths, forgetting units of length and area slowed progress in geometry.

For a younger student, lack of confidence with wordy problems made comprehension in problem-solving sessions difficult.

Another senior student relied heavily on cheat sheets and needed more active revision before exams; this resulted in last-minute stress when attempting practice tests under timed conditions.

Recent Achievements

A Marion tutor recently noticed a big shift in one Year 11 student, who started incorporating diagrams into written physics answers—something they'd previously avoided because it felt confusing.

Another high schooler, after struggling with chemistry redox reactions, began balancing half-equations independently once rules for oxidation states finally clicked.

On the primary side, a Year 4 student who used to guess quietly during maths is now asking for help whenever stuck and even solved several fraction questions on their own last session.

The older student wrapped up by creating a personal formula list for future reference.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Marion Mobile Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Westminster School.
