Inside Oaklands JunctionTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Bianca revised all questions she'd found challenging and built a personalised cheat sheet for her upcoming test.

Year 10 lessons with Liam included practice on exercises 8.5 and 8.6, focusing on advanced algebraic manipulation and problem-solving strategies.

Meanwhile, Year 11 sessions with Ava concentrated on exam revision, tackling typical short-answer questions and working through common pitfalls in mathematical reasoning.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 Mathematics, a student repeatedly forgot to bring required materials like their exercise book and CAS calculator, which led to lost lesson time ("student forgot all required materials").

In VCE English, one student arrived without having watched the assigned film or prepared study notes, leaving them unable to contribute fully.

A Year 8 learner misplaced crucial notes before a SAC—this meant extra stress trying to recover missed content last minute.

For a Year 11 Maths class, skipping written steps was noted: "should try their best with writing out all their working out, without skipping steps," making it hard to catch and correct errors.

Recent Achievements

One Oaklands Junction tutor noticed a Year 11 student who, after previously struggling with test performance, recently achieved improved results on a major assessment by focusing more during sessions and asking targeted questions about his mistakes.

In Year 8, another student who used to stay quiet now regularly brings her own questions to the lesson and even asked for extra homework last week.

Meanwhile, a primary school student who was hesitant with new maths concepts earlier in the term surprised the tutor by working through five exercises independently and finishing all of them correctly during one session.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Craigieburn Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Elevation Secondary College.
