I think it is important to be patient with your students. Some students are slower to learn than others, and others learn things in different ways compared to the rest. If you have the patience to teach them all properly, then it really shows on their performance. I believe that one of my strength is that I take pride in teaching my students. If…

Inside PeakhurstTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Raeed worked on understanding negative numbers and using number lines for addition and subtraction.

Year 9 student Mia focused on applying the cosine and sine rules in trigonometry, along with targeted help for an upcoming assignment.

For Year 10, Ethan explored exponential and logarithmic functions as well as analysing features of parabolas, using graphing to support his understanding.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student often left math working scattered across the page, making it hard to spot and correct calculation slips—"better formatting of math work can also be worked on," a tutor noted after an indices lesson.

For a Year 11 class, time management issues appeared during trigonometry problem sets: slower speed with multistep questions led to unfinished sections.

In Year 3, one student hesitated to attempt subtraction word problems, held back by uncertainty about which information was needed from the text; this avoidance meant guessing replaced careful strategy.

In each case, these habits delayed progress and sapped confidence in later tasks.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Peakhurst recently saw a Year 11 student move from hesitating over algebraic expansion to working through complex equations independently by the end of the lesson, after initially struggling with similar problems.

In another high school session, a student who previously kept quiet began openly asking for explanations and now even requests specific topics to revisit, jotting down examples on her own initiative.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student started using the column method for addition—where before he forgot to carry numbers—and successfully completed sums with larger numbers without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Penshurst Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Peakhurst Public School.
