Just be friendly with students and study is not a burden it’s just a fun. Encourage students to achieve more in a simplest and proper way. I am an optimist. I teach with easy and more simplest ways so that each student can grab knowledge as much as they can. I am friendly with a lot of skills. So along with study I can make students to learn…

First of all, a tutor should build strong, personal relationship with their students. Then, he/she should have ability to communicate in a way that makes the learner feels motivated. A tutor can make the best use of his/her knowledge to solve the problems of students and to make them perfect in a particular subject. Tutoring needs a lot of…

Some vital things I provide for my students is a safe and fun environment. I understand when beginning students are nervous and don't want to be there so to the best of my ability I make it as fun as I can in a environment they are comfortable in. At my age I work well with younger kids as they don't feel intimidated by my presence, this allows…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to explain it so they understand what you're saying, and then give them time to figure it out on their own with out being given the answer, and without time constraints. I also think that making them feel comfortable to ask for help is very important, because if they don't ask…

Fundamentally, a tutor must be able to pass on their knowledge to students such that they can progress academically. This should be accompanied by helping and testing the students where necessary. I prefer to break down complex concepts into smaller ideas, which can then be used as a foundation for understanding and applying the actual…

It is important that a tutor is able to put themselves in the position of the student, so they can see clearly what it is that the student struggles to understand. A tutor should also be understanding that different students have different ways of learning and that there is not just one way of teaching that suits every student. I am good at…

Local Reviews

Laura is a bright and happy person that connects well with my 13-year-old who is quite shy and hesitant to ask questions in class. There's no judgement and no frustration if concepts are not grasped or forgotten during their session. My daughters very limited interest and understanding of maths has improved and with it a willingness to try harder at school. My daughter always looks forward to tutoring which I know is due to Laura's good attitude and patience.

Inside PeronTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Megan focused on fraction addition and multiplication tables, reinforcing concepts with hands-on examples.

In Year 10, Ben worked through solving linear equations and graphing straight lines, using past exam questions to build confidence.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Ava tackled investments and loans by applying simple and compound interest formulas as well as recursive relations in financial maths problems.

Recent Challenges

A Year 7 student struggled with messy written work in fraction manipulation, as noted: "Setting out of the problems correctly to avoid mistakes."

In Year 9 algebra, forgetting to write all working steps made it difficult to trace errors when revising.

One Year 10 student focused only on familiar multiplication drills but avoided mixed application problems—limiting their ability to transfer skills.

In Year 12 financial maths, over-reliance on calculators meant the recursive rule was misunderstood during loan calculations.

These habits left gaps that showed up most clearly in unfamiliar exam questions or multi-step worded problems.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Peron noticed that Ruby, a Year 10 student, started using her own method to tackle algebra problems and could now solve quadratic equations with only occasional hints—she used to rely on step-by-step guidance for every question.

In a recent session, Maddison (Year 11) began catching her own mistakes while working through scatter plot graphs, where she previously needed prompting to notice errors.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student made visible progress by independently creating fractions from shapes and timelines—a skill she had struggled to visualise just weeks before.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Safety Bay Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Rockingham Beach Primary School.
