Chemistry Tutor Banora Point, NSW
Not just tutor them, but be a friend. By opening up and developing a closer bond to students, the students feel more comfortable and it doesn't become a chemistry tutoring session, but just a study session. I went through the course(s) myself quite recently, so I understand what's expected on the students, and what they need to do to excel and not…

Chemistry Tutor Tweed Heads, NSW
Other than helping a student genuinely understand the content in their course, I think that the most important thing a tutor can do for them is to help them in developing and implementing strategies to allow them to become independently successful. This may mean developing a better organisational process, implementing a system for completing tasks…

Inside PiggabeenTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Bella focused on writing creative narratives based on familiar texts and practiced English skills like sentence structure, homonyms, and onomatopoeia using targeted worksheets.

In Year 8, Willow worked through fraction operations—adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing—as well as converting fractions to mixed numbers and simplifying expressions.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Jeremy concentrated on exam revision by reviewing Pythagoras' Theorem problems and measurement concepts such as area and volume of shapes and prisms.

Recent Challenges

The Year 12 student struggled with organization—"I wasn't prepared for the in-depth exam questions," she noted after focusing only on basic revision.

In Year 9 algebra, another student hesitated to show her work to others and rarely acted on feedback; as observed: "I keep suggesting to show others her work, however, this isn't evident."

Meanwhile, a Year 7 student arrived without paper needed for area calculations, halting progress mid-lesson.

In senior maths, one student's written layout became hard to follow when working through simultaneous equations involving fractions and exponents—mistakes then went unnoticed until late review.

Recent Achievements

A Piggabeen tutoring session saw Jeremy, a high school student, go from second-guessing his algebra skills to independently tackling complex equations—he now recognises and corrects mistakes on his own rather than waiting for prompts.

Willow, also in high school, used to hesitate when faced with fraction problems but has started converting and comparing fractions unaided; last lesson she completed a Grade 7 worksheet solo after needing reminders just weeks ago.

In primary, Bella recently began double-checking her answers during time management tasks instead of rushing ahead—a noticeable shift from earlier sessions where errors often went unchecked.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Elanora Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Bilambil Public School.
