Being there for a student when needed. I believe a student should be comfortable enough with their tutor that they are not afraid to ask any questions and thus be able to unlock their highest potential My young age often allows me to understand and get along well with younger kids. I believe this skill can be valuable in helping convey trickier…

A tutor should be able to identify the weaknesses and strengths of a student and lift their confidence first. An excellent tutor has patience to work with the student until the student's needs are achieved. Giving positive feedback when they present their work, which will then stimulate their work ethic. My 25 years of experience [as a…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to make them see past exams and assessments and really understand what the concepts are and why they are studying them in the first place. I always to go through the theory really well first and subsequently tackle challenging problems and show how to break them into bite-sized pieces. Then…

I think the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to build their understanding, confidence, and independence. It's not just about helping them get the right answer, but making sure they understand the process behind it so they can apply it on their own in the future. One of my key strengths as a tutor is my strong subject…

Giving confidence to the student is the most important thing. If the student is not confident in their ability to do the task, then they will believe that they can not and will not try. Understanding the frustrations that the student can have because they don't understand something, staying calm and patiently taking the student through the problem…

As mentioned, creating an alternate method for rote learning is to let the concept sink in through simple derivations and i have used it in my past so i'd love to pass it on to my students. For being a mathematics tutor, i believe the most important element is to not just bombard students with formulas but to explain it to them where they came…

A good tutor must be able to understand the needs of the student. Every students has his/her own level and it is very important for a good tutor to recognise that level. The most important things that a tutor can do for a student is to allow their minds to create their own version of knowledge rather than just gaining a pre-existing idea. It's only when we challenge the students to think out of the box that they actually start realising the importance of what was in the box. Giving them a vivid imagination can be a…

One of the most essential ingredients is chemistry. A good tutor will take the time to connect meaningfully with the student and their families. They will be caring and compassionate, but also professional and organized. Having a good rapport with the student will move a tutor from good to great. I think it is very important to ask the student if they’re still attentive and understanding after every while of teaching. This is because of the student have lost concentration, they will not be able to learn anything and the lesson will be effectively useless. Thus it is important to sometimes insert some humour or times to stretch to regain…

I have to give 5 stars, because I can't fault the system. Arman is doing a great job with Jeremiah, who is not a perfect student. EzyMath provide great assistance with issues, and good payment options. Communications are quickly answered.

Inside RingwoodTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Alicia practised fractions and percentages, including converting between the two, and worked through arithmetic with decimal places and division without remainders using back-checking strategies.

In Year 10, Justin focused on probability concepts, tackling chance scenarios and representing probabilities as fractions and decimals.

For Year 11, revision for Data Analysis SACs involved interpreting statistical data sets and reinforcing understanding of summary statistics using past assessment questions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 Further Maths student repeatedly hesitated when breaking down worded application questions, often needing to "stop and re-read to figure out which formula fits," as one tutor noted. This slowed progress and left her less time for harder problems in SACs.

In Year 8 algebra, another student missed steps when transposing equations—struggling to keep track of negatives and losing confidence mid-way.

Meanwhile, a Grade 6 student's tendency to rely on counting instead of quick recall with times tables meant she lost focus during multi-step division tasks, sometimes forgetting why she started the question at all.

Recent Achievements

One Ringwood tutor noticed that April, a Year 12 student, made a real leap by applying new matrix skills to tough exam questions without much prompting—something she hesitated with just weeks ago.

In another session, Chloe (Year 10) started showing her working more consistently and has begun tackling worded problems step by step rather than freezing up at first glance.

For a younger student, Matilda's attitude has shifted: where she used to clam up on anything algebraic, this week she relaxed enough to try Pythagoras' theorem for the first time and managed to solve for a triangle side independently by her third question.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Realm Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Our Lady of Perpetual Help School.
