Demystifying task sheets for a student and teaching them how to manage their time and develop a good working…

Help them reach their full potential without doing all the work for them; I think it is important to let them do some hard work now and again so they can appreciate it more when they are congratulated for their success, and so that they are not 'coddled' into thinking other people will do all their work for them. Some of my strengths would…

Every student is unique! There is no single approach to curriculum that will guarantee success for every individual. It is for this reason that it is imperative for a tutor to provide a personalised, growth-oriented atmosphere that provides each student an equal opportunity to improve and ultimately succeed. As a tutor, I discover alternative…

It is very easy for students to feel disheartened if initial targets are not achieved, and hence as a tutor it is important for me to continue motivating students to reach their goals. In addition, no person is the same so every student tutored will have different strengths and weaknesses. As the tutor I would cater for the differences of each…

Some of the strengths that I believe are quite necessary for a tutor other than leadership are resilience, and the ability to properly analyse a students learning…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be patient and understanding with them, as what is obvious or easy for you may not be so for your student. Learn not to show annoyance in your speech or body language as it can demotivate the students and make them perform even worse. A tutor must collaborate with the student, as the…

Local Reviews

Armaan is a fantastic tutor and my son saw results after just one session. He takes the time to ensure his student fully understands what he is saying and is always prepared well in advance of his sessions with a comprehensive workplan. Armaan is patient, a great communicator, punctual and very respectful. Highly recommend.

Inside RochedaleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Hannah practised converting improper fractions to proper fractions and worked on finding a fraction of a number using visual models.

Year 8 student Ryan focused on solving linear equations and interpreting Cartesian planes, including plotting points on coordinate grids.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Chloe reviewed trigonometry concepts—specifically Pythagoras' theorem and similar triangles—using diagrams to reinforce understanding.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student hesitated to ask for help or use assignment scaffolds, instead waiting for step-by-step instructions—"he often waited for me to tell him what goes in each section"—which left him uncertain and slowed progress.

Meanwhile, a Year 9 learner relied heavily on memorising past questions rather than applying the discussed rules when facing new fraction problems, making it hard to adapt to unfamiliar wording.

In Year 4, missed multiplication homework has become routine over five weeks; this forgetfulness is causing basic skills like times tables to slip.

Moments of distraction during class sometimes led to answers being written in the wrong boxes despite correct working out.

Recent Achievements

One Rochedale tutor recently noticed a big shift in Ben, a Year 11 student, who now asks targeted questions when unsure—something he rarely did before—and was able to collect relevant data and identify assumptions for his maths assignment without prompting.

Meanwhile, Sas in Year 7 tackled harder worded problems independently on rounding decimals after initially needing help with basic concepts last year.

In a primary session, Orla, who used to be reluctant about new topics, was excited to learn about capacity and confidently completed her worksheets on her own.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Logan North Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Rochedale State School.
