I think spending time to change your whole approach of teaching because one of your student is unable to understand the whole content. Being honest and flexible is very important things a tutor can have. Flexible, patient, good listener and helping nature. Being flexible about the teaching approach because every individual has different way of…

I believe there are several things a tutor can deliver to her students, the primary of which is to instill a sense of confidence and can-do attitude among them. This means my role will not only limit to a tutor but also a mentor, guiding my students on multiple aspects of their academic path. As a seasoned tutor and teacher of English, I'd say my…

The tutor's objective is not simply to relay information to a student in a bland or dry manner, but rather to establish a solid foundation and understanding for the students - to devise a teaching method that works best. Firstly, the most important thing that a tutor should do is build up confidence in their kids that they have the potential to achieve their goals and are destined for the best. This instantly boosts up the kids for striving for accuracy and their dreams. Secondly, a tutor should never be a demotivator in any manner. This is important as any…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student extend beyond academic instruction. While helping students grasp challenging concepts is crucial, equally vital is fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment. A tutor should adapt teaching methods to suit the student's unique learning style, provide constructive feedback, and…

Tutors needs to deliver their fullest in educating the student. As a tutor the most we can do for is a student is to encourage them to not just learn what's in the book but also to understand the concepts with a greater depth. I believe it is most important for a tutor to tailor their teaching according to the needs of their student. I believe being able to teach a student in the way that is most…

I think that the most important thing that a tutor can do is relentlessly believe that the student is capable of learning and has the capacity to achieve. When the student sees this demonstrated week after week, they begin to also believe in their own capacity to achieve. This means that a tutor can impact students far beyond the current concepts…

Inside RosewaterTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Sienna worked on applying integration to area under a curve and reviewed practice tests for her upcoming assessment.

Year 10 Jaeda focused on expanding and factorising algebraic expressions, then briefly revisited past maths concepts to consolidate understanding.

Meanwhile, Year 9 Maddison discussed challenges with algebra and fractions, developed a plan for better class engagement, and set improvement goals for the term.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student arrived without her homework, explaining she had lost the assigned questions; this left lesson time spent retracing old material instead of moving forward.

In Year 11, one student was unaware of an upcoming quiz and didn't use her prepared cheat sheet when completing rushed homework, leading to missed revision opportunities.

"She forgot her word list and homework for the week so we were not able to touch on those," noted a tutor in a Year 4 English session.

Another senior student relied heavily on mental maths for circle problems but avoided writing steps, which led to confusion mid-solution.

Recent Achievements

One Rosewater tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 10 student who, after often forgetting to double-check her maths work, now talks through each step aloud and catches small mistakes before moving on.

Another high schooler in the area started coming to sessions prepared with specific questions about her coursework—she previously hesitated to ask for clarification but now flags what's confusing right away and even reviews past questions independently.

Meanwhile, a younger student recently earned her first perfect spelling test score by sounding out tricky vowel combinations on her own after weeks of needing lots of hints.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Civic Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Mount Carmel College Secondary Campus.
