By my little experience, i think that tutoring is not only directing the children to a specific point but opening their mind to a broader level by keeping into mind the child's interests. Listening to the child, helping them to use their imagination freely and cope-up with difficult questions easily. Also, students can ask me questions freely if…

In the role of a tutor, it's crucial to maintain a calm and composed demeanor, regardless of the complexity of the situation. Instead of getting agitated or raising my voice, I believe in using peaceful and constructive communication to assist students through their challenges. Providing encouragement and empathy is far more effective in helping…

He/she should be motivated to follow the path in which he /she has upper hand or better grasping power. Tutoring is not just about teaching ......It decides the future of next generations. So a tutor acts as a blueprint for a student's carrer.…

I would say really get to know the student and improve them. especifically where are they lacking, which way is suitable for them or what do they like the most in learing and why do they strugle in a specific subject. I am a hard worker, I would say that is my strength. I like to face new challanges and to get new ideas. I used to learn from…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is build a student’s confidence. It’s not just about improving grades, but helping them believe they’re capable. A good tutor should also create a safe space for questions, provide encouragement, and teach study skills that students can use independently in the future. I think my main…

Tutor can guide the student effectively. Tutoring doesn’t mean delivering lecture and completing the curriculum. It is responsible for holistic development of the pupils. Most important a teacher can do is to check the students individual growth and planning for the same. I have more than 4 years of teaching experience. I have taught formally as…

I believe that a tutor should understand that students have different ways of the studying that actually help them in their studies, and they should be able to adapt and prepare new ways of teaching that is most valuable to students. A tutor should be motivating but disciplinary to students, to ensure they maintain a good mindset towards their…

Understand what the student needs and what he/she is lacking. Then provide them with the tools and techniques to overcome that on their own. And also to make it very easy for the student to understand and retain the information. I believe that ultimately, helping students to achieve better grades in school is the most important thing, because that's what tutors are hired for. That being said, I also believe that other things such as helping students to fix a poor study schedule and rectifying pessimistic/unconfident mindsets is also important towards not only their…

I believe it’s important to empathise with students rather then being sympathetic. Sympathy comes with one feeling a sense of emotion for sometime. Whereas, when in comes to tutoring, we need to empathise with students as it’ll allow us to position ourselves in their circumstances. Therefore, will give as a vision of a reality closer to what a…

The most vital thing that a tutor must do for a student is develop a special teaching method for each individual or class. To be flexible. Every one of us is a one-of-a-kind human being. This fact is so important that as a tutor, being flexible in the teaching approach will help the students grow in their own way without being forced to follow others' approaches. Empathy and communication skills. Having been working since I was 16, my mindset has changed ever since.…

Local Reviews

It was very easy to set up the tutoring sessions. There are regular check ins with the client to check how well the tutoring is going, and lots of helpful information regularly provided on how to get the best from the tutoring. Our tutor is very well organised, has been very supportive of our daughter's learning and needs, and has gone the extra mile to ensure she is understanding the concepts. Very pleased, and highly recommend this organisation for tutoring.
Tina, Sunshine West

Inside Sunshine WestTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Vincent worked through mixed numbers, area, volume, percentages, ratios and algebra in maths homework, while also focusing on English reading comprehension and spoken communication.

Year 9 student Daniel tackled simultaneous equations with two variables using graphing techniques, explored linear inequalities and gradients of parallel and perpendicular lines.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Yifan reviewed hydrocarbon naming and properties for an organic chemistry SAC, including alkanes, alkenes, alkynes and polymers as well as applying equations with moles and Avogadro's number.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student arrived without class notes or required materials, making it difficult to address gaps in geometry and algebra; as one tutor noted, "he struggled to recall perimeter formulae without reference sheets."

In VCE Chemistry, a senior student repeatedly forgot to bring completed practice SACs and revision exercises, which limited their ability to apply feedback on ionic equations.

During an English session with a Year 10 student, incomplete homework drafts meant essay structure feedback could not be implemented fully.

Each moment saw valuable lesson time diverted toward reconstructing missed work rather than progressing with new skills.

Recent Achievements

A Sunshine West tutor noticed one Year 9 student who used to quietly muddle through maths now openly asks for help when stuck, and has started explaining their working without prompting.

In a recent high school chemistry session, another student who struggled with mole equations last term confidently balanced chemical equations on their own this week.

Meanwhile, a primary learner who was previously hesitant about reading aloud finished an entire page independently and tackled new words by sounding them out before asking for help.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Brimbank Libraries—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Peter's School.
