What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Whilst I don't have any previous experience in tutoring, reflecting on the times I was in tutoring, I found the most enjoyable aspect to be the relationships formed with peers and the tutor. It was reassuring how despite in school I found it difficult to rely on peers and even teacher for help, tutoring, because of the supported learning environment it provided, was something I could depend on if I was struggling with my studies.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I believe I have a fairly good understanding of the mathematic and chemistry syllabus but I think my strengths as a tutor lie more into my patience and empathy. I don't have a unique high school academic or social experience and I believe that strengthens me as a tutor as I would be able to understand, to some extent, the position a student is in. I believe the empathy I am able to experience for a student would help me to work well with them as I would, hopefully, be seen by them as someone who is non-judgemental, understandable and someone who could genuinely help them in their struggles.
Most important things I can do for a student π
I believe being able to provide a dependable and welcoming support system for a student is one of the most important things a tutor should do. Based on personal experience, I struggled with finding and being willing to approach teachers at school for help and support with studies. However, it was because I was able to turn to my tutors, who I found to be incredibly welcoming and supporting, that I was actually able to perform well in school even without significant help from my school teachers. Tutors who provide a welcoming and dependable environment are valuable to students' growth.

She understood quite well how to do trigonometric differentiation. She understood the fundamental meaning of the first derivative and how it allows us to determine when a function is increasing, decreasing or stationary.
She needs to be able to identify more clearly which differentiation rule is needed in a question. Additional work is needed to help her understand trigonometric transformations and the trigonometric terms. She needs to be consistent with her homework.
She seems to have a very good understanding of all the topics with how well she performed across the various questions. Very little help from me was necessary.

She needs to be more comfortable with index laws. The involvement of negative terms seems to be an area prone to silly mistakes as she often will forget to account for it in steps. Word problems are an area to be further explored for her.

She understood well what it meant to solve an equation and inequality graphically. After explaining absolute values, she could also solve various complex equations involving them as well. Her quick quiz performance also demonstrated that she has a good understanding on vertical and horizontal asymptotes.
She was making silly mistakes in basic year 11 algebraic techniques, so itβs vital she checks her steps as she goes. She also has a lot of homework completion left to do which is concerning with the approach of her exam day. She needs to be able to differentiate between calculus and the curve sketching course which will hopefully be clearer once she finishes her homework.

After revisiting the topic once more, she seems to have better grasp on how to identify vertical and horizontal asymptotes and the behaviour of the functions near it. While it took her time, she could even graph very complex functions.
She is forgetting what we did the previous lessons because she is not being consistent with her homework. While she quickly recalls after I explain she needs to take more initiative and finish her homework, especially with her upcoming exam. She also needs to take more care when she graphs as she forgets to include important features like intercepts.
