What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐
I love it when I see my students' faces light up with understanding when they finally grasped a concept they had previously struggled with, and are able to solve a maths question independently. Helping students to trust in their own capability even when things get hard is very rewarding for me.
My Strengths as Tutor ๐ช
I think my biggest strength as a tutor is my ability to explain complex concepts in a much simpler way and to tailor my teaching to individual students.
Another strength is my patience. I don't mind explaining things multiple times or finding another way to explain things to students. I want them to feel comfortable making mistakes as long as they attempt solving a question. I also encourage my students often, assuring them that they will grow with time and practice.
Most important things I can do for a student ๐
One of the most important things is to let students gain confidence in a subject they are struggling with by breaking down concepts into something easy to understand. It is also very important to create a supportive environment where students feel confident to try, even when the material feels difficult. I often see students give up on a question before even trying it, so I hope to shift their mindset into a growth mindset and be willing to make the effort to try and approach difficult questions without fear.

About Lucia Xuwenxuan
Experience in Tutoring
I have several years of experience tutoring students one-on-one in mathematics and science, working with a wide range of age groups, and have seen improvements in results. My goal is to help students build confidence, become independent thinkers, and develop the skills for long-term academic success.
Strong Academic Background in Maths and Science
I am currently a second-year medical student at the University of Sydney, and I had previously completed a Bachelor of Science, for which I was awarded the Academic Merit Prize. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in problem-solving and analytical thinking, which I use to help students understand challenging topics in a clear and structured way. I also provide practical strategies and tips for revision and exam preparation, tailored to each studentโs needs.
Patient, Personable, and Adaptable
I believe in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from their mistakes. I tailor each session to the studentโs pace and learning style, so that they can understand concepts in a way that best suits them.
