What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is witnessing the moment when a concept finally "clicks" for a student. It's very rewarding to play a role in that transformation. I love making STEM subjects like maths and physics less intimidating and more engaging by connecting them to real-world ideas. Tutoring gives me the chance to make a lasting impact, not just on academic results but on a student’s mindset and motivation.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strengths as a tutor lie in my ability to simplify complex ideas, adapt to different learning styles. With experience in tutoring through Alchemy Tuition and casually, I’ve developed strong communication skills and a patient, motivating approach. My foundation in maths, physics, and programming, as well as my experience as a basketball coach and retail assistant, have made me approachable, organised, and effective at engaging students of varying personalities and attention spans.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A tutor’s most important role is to build the student’s confidence and independence in learning. This means not just teaching content, but creating a space where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. Encouragement, consistent feedback, and tailoring explanations to suit the student’s understanding are essential. A great tutor also communicates with parents when needed to align on progress and goals, something I’ve practiced regularly in my tutoring experience.

About Arav
Academic Journey
I’m currently studying a double degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UNSW, where I’ve developed a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and programming. My studies have given me not only technical knowledge, but also a deeper appreciation for logical thinking, creativity, and persistence, qualities I bring into every tutoring session.
Tutoring Philosophy
With experience tutoring at professional institutions, I’ve worked with students across various year levels and abilities. I focus on making learning engaging, personalised, and confidence-building. My goal is not just to improve marks, but to help students become independent problem-solvers who actually enjoy the process of learning. I also believe that progress happens when students feel safe to make mistakes and grow from them.
Outside Tutoring
Outside the classroom, I’m passionate about basketball, both as a player and a coach. Coaching has strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, motivate others, and adapt to different learning styles — all of which feed directly into my tutoring. Whether it’s on the court or in a classroom, I thrive when helping others improve and reach their potential.
