What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐
What I enjoy most about tutoring is being able to witness a students journey towards success. Knowing a student is able to improve in school due to my assistance brings me a great sense of pride. Furthermore, I love experiencing their growth as an individual both in and outside their academic pursuits.
My Strengths as Tutor ๐ช
I am both patient but firm in my teaching methods. I understand that each individual learns at different speeds however, I'm not afraid to push individuals to perform to the best of their capabilities.
Most important things I can do for a student ๐
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to believe in their potential. A tutor must show a student that they have faith in them becoming a high distinction student, regardless of their current grades or what they believe to be their limitations.

Hannah has displayed that she remembers the writing rules for common silent letters such as k,w,g,b and t, and she is making fewer mistakes upon revision. She knows to use the "they are" substitution when testing which there/their/they're to use. She responded well to reading questions and was able to read all words she found difficult with some assistance.
Although Hannah does quite well with silent letters at the beginning or end of words, she struggles more with silent letters that appear in the middle, such as 't' in 'listen'. Hannah still relies on sight-reading her words before attempting to read phonetically if she gets them incorrect. She is also sometimes unable to say words cohesively even though she can say it slowly or in parts.

Sofia picks up the fundamental formulas and concepts of calculating surface area quickly. She was able to solve all preliminary questions correctly and with little difficulty. She also understands how to implement Pythagoras' theorem to solve for triangular prism and pyramids.
Sofia should challenge herself with more questions involving composite prisms that require combining numerous formulas or several steps. This will aid in consolidating her understanding and ability to approach advanced questions. Sofia's approach is also lacking in confidence. I believe she will benefit from verbalising her guesses even when she's unsure.

Hannah was relatively well engaged with today's activities. I was impressed to see that on her spelling test, she demonstrated that she remembers the key concept of our previous lesson on suffixes and prefixes. She performed relatively well throughout the lesson, considering the long break from our last session.
Hannah is likely reading utilising whole-word sight reading and shows traits of optilexia. She is reading words based on sight memory first and using her phonics as a secondary, only after she isn't able to read it from sight. Her difficulty reading and pronouncing words is likely influencing her spelling difficulties.

Sofia has an excellent understanding of all key major financial concepts. She is comfortable solving questions involving simple and compound interest, as well as depreciation and repayments. Sofia is also skilled in algebra and efficiently solves problems involving multiplication and division of functions.
Sofia is exceptionally skilled at most, if not all, intermediate-level questions. However, she has slightly more difficulty with questions requiring several steps. I believe her understanding can be deepened by challenging herself further.
