No one has doubts about the importance of English in the Australian school curriculum. Not only is it a mandatory subject to complete year 12, but it's a useful life skill. Verbal and written language skills are crucial in the information age. Comprehending texts, textual analysis, structuring written reports, refining creative processes and applying a structure to them, articulating thoughts concisely ... these skills are going to be useful in just about any career path. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Abigail is making good progress in the algebra sections. She is getting used to talking out loud when solving problems, and breaking down complex problems into smaller manageable bits. She asks questions to clarify her understanding and she is learning to back check her work.
Her attitude towards each lessons has been very positive. Efforts to try questions are quite high except when she doesn't understand or is flustered by a questions she often gives up and is unsure what to do. Homework is always completed. It would be beneficial for her to contact me throughout the week with work set in class that she doesn't understand.
This is just the beginning of Year 11 and Isabel doesn't have a lot of gaps in the current topics. That being said, there were a few gaps from previous work done in highschool, but I believe she understands those areas better now.
I came to work with Ezymaths because I knew I would get a wide range of students to tutor, which would undoubtedly improve my tutoring skill as well as communications skills (dealing with students and parents). The biggest accomplishment would be when my student's mark improved significantly and she moved up to the upper maths class in the next semester. I felt very proud of my students when they remembered the skills I taught them last week and used those skills to complete their homework and also to apply to other similar questions. The CEPs and various resources were useful. Thank you for your support for the past year!
I came to Ezy Math to get a job that I would be able to gain a range of skills from while working in my own time, which turned out great as I was able to work with clients around my own schedule. I've been quite happy with the results of my tutoring, I had a student who was getting a 'C' on average up to the top of the class with consistent 'A's. It's really great seeing the work you do affect others and when you do a good job, it really shows. I would recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to other prospective tutors, I never encountered a single problem with them and if I ever needed information, resources or help, they were always able to provide it to me. I would also recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to clients as having Ezy Math as a support structure definitely makes the work easier.
Laura has definitely gotten Diana to a great start. She eagerly anticipates her tutoring and is seeming to take more interest in Maths especially in the strands that she did not feel very confident about. Diana has told me that Laura's explanations are easily understood and is simplified which makes it easy to remember. She also explains various strategies that can be used for problem solving which is good for time management when attempting to solve problems in class. Diana is able to use the notes taken during tutoring in class which is assisting with her understanding of the relevant strand or concept.
