What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I find pleasure in being able to help students accomplish a goal they thought they could never accomplish; whether it be understanding a topic they have been stuck on for weeks or achieve a mark they have never gotten. No matter the goal, the often-complex web a student must wade through needs to be broken down into its simple components, and I enjoy being able to help them through this journey and see their glee for their triumph.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

As a tutor I always spend most of my time understanding my student's perspective of their problem, for here lies their gap in knowledge. Once this is identified, I work with them from first principles – knowing how to use a formula is not the same as understanding it. This approach has helped me build solutions from scratch to accomplish distinctions in the Australian Mathematics Competition and firsts in science competitions. My strength as a tutor is building these formulas and theories from scratch to bring intuition to the student, not just letters and numbers.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Support. The education system can be tough, and confidence is fluid along with grades, and it is up to the tutor to remind a student of how far they have come and how capable the student is. The largest impact on results is often not the time spent studying, but the foundational pillar that is psychology as this impacts every part of education. The ability to keep a student motivated and enjoying school is much more important than tutoring a student who doesn't want to listen. A tutor must bring life to not just the subject, but the student as well.
