Verified Tutor
Ricardo brings hands-on tutoring experience from working with students in Years 7–9 who could not afford formal tutoring. In this role he helps with homework, explains tricky concepts step by step, and supports students to build confidence over several school terms. He is used to working with mixed-ability groups and adapting explanations on the spot. Parents can expect a tutor who already understands how school-aged students think, learn, and stay engaged over time.
As a volunteer program leader supporting international students with their English, Ricardo regularly helps learners improve speaking, listening, reading, and everyday language skills. This experience has sharpened his ability to break down grammar and vocabulary in simple, practical ways. He is patient with questions and good at encouraging shy students to participate. This tutor is particularly well-suited to children who need clear explanations, extra language support, or a calm boost to their communication skills.
Ricardo is studying a Masters in Dietetics and has assisted nutritionists in delivering nutrition and cooking sessions in schools. He is comfortable presenting to classes, managing groups, and turning theory into fun, real-life activities. This background means he naturally weaves practical examples, visuals, and everyday scenarios into his teaching. He enjoys getting students talking, asking “why”, and linking what they learn in English or other subjects to topics they care about, helping lessons feel meaningful rather than abstract.

Berry is getting more consistent with her writing and at least at a glance it does not seem like I will need to make edits with it. Would also like to note how good her reading is with her intonation.
I noticed that she tends to omit proper speech mark punctuation e.g. not using any full stops or commas within her dialogue, as well as overuse of names/proper nouns instead of sharing its usage with personal pronouns.

There is no trouble with Cleo when it comes to grasping where the numbers that are carried need to go, and she can very easily do the problems as equations and did not struggle much when they were transferred into worded problems.
Right now Cleo's biggest struggle is with not trying to distract herself during our sessions. As we only have 30 minutes, every one of them counts and she is consistently trying to divert attention away by various means, so I would like to trial removing the tablet for the next lesson to see if that improves things.

Ethan has the ability to do the work expected from his teacher with the packs he is provided so there are moments where everything comes together and he can do the question sometimes without even needing to do the working out which is obviously really encouraging to see, it is just inconsistent with what I have mentioned in the 'needs improvement' section
Similar to last session, Ethan will suddenly lose the ability or how to comprehend questions or concepts in Maths that were 5-10 minutes prior natural to him, e.g. not understanding the 0 in 10 is not equivalent to zero, it is the number ten, and this is something that really affects the efficiency of our session. It unfortunately means that we have to spend a lot of time getting back to square one instead of trying to make progress, so I will have to be very careful with how I explain things so he does not latch onto something that could be misunderstood/is only meant to be applied in some contexts.
Berry managed to write the most she's ever done this session, clearly showing her improvement in creating narratives on the spot.

In Berry's writing, she tends to forego conjunctions and use commas in her sentences, which weakens her writing as there are various conjunctions with different uses that could be there instead of commas for all of them so she will need to learn to not rely on commas so much.
