What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Whenever I was helping my friends in class or outside of class, I liked being able to explain things to them, as it also helped me become better at explaining concepts and grow my own understanding. I also really loved seeing when it clicked for them and they understood what I was explaining.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I have been through tutoring since year 2, so I have a lot of understanding of what it's like being a student and what can be effective. Additionally, I am patient and have learnt a lot through my school years, about the different ways people can learn. I have also made a lot of mistakes in my learning. Thus, one of my strengths would be that I am able to provide a lot of helpful insight into learning and learning from mistakes from the perspective of a student. Also, another strengths is that I truly love maths and thus believe that I can make it more enjoyable for other students.
Most important things I can do for a student π
In my opinion, the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is make them feel comfortable. This is done by establishing a welcoming and positive environment that helps them learn, and as a result allows the students to feel more confident.

About Monique
Enthusiastic High-Achiever with Strong Academic Foundations
Monique is a recent high school graduate who has completed her senior studies with a strong focus on academic excellence and self-discipline. Through her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, she committed regularly to structured activities, balancing volunteering, sport and language learning. This shows she can relate well to students who are juggling school, homework and extra-curriculars, and can help them build good study habits as well as subject knowledge in English and Maths.
Real-World Learning and Curious Mindset
Monique has hands-on experience in a scientific research environment, where she observed experiments and helped organise laboratories at a heart and diabetes institute. This exposure to real-world science allows her to explain tricky Maths and Science ideas with practical, everyday examples. She enjoys breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps, helping students see how what they learn in class connects to real life and future careers.
Multilingual Communicator Who Connects with Students
Fluent in English and able to speak French and Russian, Monique understands what itβs like to learn and think across different languages. She uses this to explain ideas in simple, precise ways and to spot where students may be misunderstanding instructions or wording in questions. Her volunteering at a local library, where she helped organise books and supported visitors, shows she is patient, approachable and comfortable working with young people in learning spaces.
