What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy it when a student I'm teaching has a moment of understanding where a hard concept or tricky question clicks for them. It gives me a sense of pride and enthusiasm for them when I can see a clear shift in confidence.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

When a student asks me a question out of confusion, I can guide them to understand the answer from their current understanding. I think my strength is asking the right questions to the student to gauge where this confusion is, and working from first principles if necessary to help them solve their question. This is by using mental models, analogies, and a clear line of reasoning that they can follow.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think a tutor should be able to communicate clearly with language and clarity that lets the student follow the lesson in its entirety without getting lost. When they do get lost, it is important that the tutor can see and understand what confuses them. A tutor should also be able to provide support to students, letting them open up with their own questions and build confidence.

About Vishal

High-achieving maths and computing student who “gets” the curriculum

Vishal is a high-performing maths and computing student with an ATAR in the high 90s and consistently more than 90% in advanced subjects such as Mathematical Methods and Applied Computing. He is currently studying Engineering and Computer Science, so his maths skills are fresh and in active use. This tutor understands how school assessments work, from topic tests to high-stakes exams, and can clearly explain methods, algorithms and problem-solving strategies in ways that make sense to both primary and high school students.

Clear communicator who breaks complex ideas into simple steps

Vishal’s experience in reception roles and customer-facing work has strengthened his ability to listen carefully, explain clearly and stay calm under pressure—skills he brings directly into tutoring. He focuses on showing students multiple ways to approach a question, then helps them choose the method that suits their thinking style. In maths and computing, he emphasises step-by-step working, exam-style practice and building strong foundations so students feel confident, not rushed or overwhelmed.

Well-rounded mentor with a strong interest in learning and creativity

Beyond academics, Vishal has spent years learning and performing Carnatic music, which has sharpened his concentration, pattern recognition and memory—valuable tools he weaves into his tutoring approach. Having been part of an enrichment scholars program throughout high school, he understands extension work as well as catching up on basics. This tutor aims to be more than a homework helper; he works to build each student’s independence, study habits and quiet confidence in maths and related subjects.
