What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Since my favourite subjects was along the branches of math, I’d like to learn and teach kids mathematical concepts, and whilst helping, at times I also learn things such as different approaches to questions which I didn’t know before, thus I enjoy the part where I teach and learn at the same time.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I believe my strengths as a tutor are patience as when students doesn’t quite reach an answer or solution to a question, instead of just telling them the answer, I guide them onto the correct path or steps of approching the question and let them figured it out the rest.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

At Kumon, It taught me the most important thing to do for a student as a tutor is slowly, and patiently working with kids, especially when they have no clue on how to do the concepts, and focuses on the areas that they are struggling on at school to help them improve and stay ahead.

About Patrick

Early Classroom Experience with Primary Maths and English

Patrick already brings hands-on experience from working in a learning centre that focuses on primary Maths and English. He helps prepare classwork and homework, so he understands how topics build from week to week and how to keep practice at the right level. He regularly marks worksheets and identifies where students are making repeated mistakes, then records this clearly so teachers and parents can see progress. This background means he is comfortable supporting school-style work and explaining it in simple, direct steps.

Clear Communicator Who Keeps Parents in the Loop

In his education role, Patrick not only works with students but also reports their progress to parents and instructors. He is used to turning test scores and worksheets into easy-to-understand feedback, which transfers well into one-on-one tutoring. Being bilingual in English and Vietnamese, he can communicate clearly with families who speak either language at home. Parents can expect regular, practical updates about what their child is doing well and what Patrick will focus on next.

Patient, Relatable Student Mentor

As a current secondary student himself, Patrick remembers exactly what it feels like to struggle with a new concept or balance homework with everything else. He has developed strong stress management and adaptability skills through school and work, which helps him stay calm and encouraging with younger learners. He approaches tutoring as a friendly mentor, breaking tasks into manageable chunks and celebrating small wins. This tutor aims to build confidence as well as skills, so students feel more comfortable in class and with homework.
