About Karen Lee

High-achieving biomedicine student with strong English background

Karen is a high-performing biomedicine student with an International Baccalaureate score in the top 5%, giving her a solid grounding in both Maths and English. She understands the pressures of school assessments and uses this insight to help students break big goals into manageable steps. With experience learning in multilingual environments and speaking English, Indonesian and Mandarin, this tutor is skilled at explaining tricky concepts clearly, especially for students who may not have English as a first language.

Real classroom experience with children and teens

Karen has hands-on experience working with children and teenagers through volunteering at a children’s health education program and supporting a rural school’s holiday camp. In these roles she shared academic guidance, led activities and kept students engaged over long days. She has also tutored English for underprivileged children, building their confidence in reading, writing and speaking. This mix of settings means she is comfortable adapting her style for shy learners, energetic classes and everything in between.

Confident student leader who connects with young people

As a long-term student council vice president and youth group leader, Karen has organised events, created student-facing content and guided teams of peers. This leadership experience helps her build quick rapport with students and keep lessons structured yet friendly. Outside the classroom she plays volleyball at school team level and has completed advanced piano studies, so she understands commitment, practice routines and performance nerves—skills she brings into tutoring to help students stay motivated and proud of their progress.
