What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is being able to support students beyond just academics. Many of the students I work with initially lack confidence and feel discouraged by school, so it is meaningful to help them believe in their own abilities. I find it especially rewarding to see their mindset shift, when they become more willing to ask questions, attempt challenges, and take pride in their progress. Tutoring has taught me the importance of patience, empathy, and adapting my approach to meet each student’s needs, which I value deeply.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
One of my strengths as a tutor is my ability to explain concepts patiently and in a way that is tailored to each student’s learning style. I am attentive to when a student is struggling or losing confidence, and I adjust my approach to ensure they feel supported rather than pressured. I also value consistency and encouragement. I make an effort to build trust so students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Over time, this helps them develop both stronger understanding and greater confidence in their own abilities.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to create a safe and encouraging learning environment, build the student’s confidence, and help them develop independent learning skills. Beyond explaining content, a tutor should listen carefully, be patient, and adapt their teaching to the student’s needs. By doing so, a tutor not only helps the student understand the material, but also empowers them to approach challenges with greater resilience and self-belief.

About Dheveena
Confident Communicator with Strong Academic Foundations
Dheveena brings a solid academic background in Mathematics and English-rich subjects, built through rigorous study in sciences, economics and now law. This tutor is used to breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps, a skill sharpened through legal research and structured writing. Her experience communicating with peers, teachers and professionals means she can adapt her explanations to suit different ages and abilities, helping primary and high school students feel more confident with their schoolwork and exam preparation.
Proven Student Leader Who Understands School Life
Throughout school, Dheveena was repeatedly chosen as Class Chairperson, representing classmates and coordinating activities. She led teams in a talent development programme and a cultural immersion programme, ensuring everyone understood instructions and stayed engaged. These experiences mean she understands classroom pressures, group work, and exam stress from the inside. As a tutor, she uses this insight to help students organise their study, manage time, and participate more actively in lessons, not just memorise content.
Patient Mentor with Real Experience Supporting Peers
This tutor has a strong track record of guiding others, from organising weekly training activities in a youth uniformed group to hosting international students and helping them settle into a new environment. She has planned and run sessions that build skills step by step, tracked progress, and adjusted activities to suit different abilities. In tutoring, she brings this same structure and care, using examples from real life, encouraging questions, and creating a calm space where students feel safe to try, make mistakes, and improve.
