What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I truly believe that all students have the potential to achieve high grades, and being able to help them see their full potential gives me a lot of pride. Helping them transition from feeling overwhelmed or confused with a topic to suddenly understanding it is incredibly rewarding.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think of myself as a very kind and patient person. I have a lot of empathy for students, because I was once in their shoes, and there were times where things weren’t “clicking†for me. Therefore, this allows me to understand where theyre coming from, and help them in the best way possible. I also understand that every student is different, and I am hard working, therefore will ensure that i put in extra effort to ensure that each student is being taught in the method that works best for them.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Be patient. For some students it will take longer for them to gauge a topic compared to others. Ensuring that no student feels that theyre slow or “not up to it†is the worst possible situation. I think its also important for tutors to act as a mentor to students, not only helping them with the development of hard skills, but also with soft skills that will assist them as they progress through their schooling lives.

About Ebony

High-achieving maths and science role model

Ebony is a high-performing university student studying a double degree in Chemical Engineering and Business, maintaining a GPA in the high distinction range. Her strong background in Maths Methods, Chemistry, Biology and English at school, combined with an ATAR above 95, means she can clearly explain challenging concepts to both primary and high school students. She understands exam-style questions, how marks are awarded, and how to break topics down into simple, manageable steps that build real confidence.

Structured, disciplined approach shaped by elite sport

As a state-level runner and former high-level basketball player, Ebony brings discipline, persistence and goal-setting into her tutoring. She is used to planning training blocks, tracking progress and adjusting strategies, and she applies the same mindset to schoolwork. In sessions, she helps students set realistic targets, creates simple study routines and celebrates small wins. Her experience as a sports prefect shows she can lead, motivate and communicate clearly with younger students.

Relatable, encouraging mentor who connects with students

Ebony’s friendly, down-to-earth personality makes her easy for young people to talk to, especially those who may be anxious about maths or science. She is used to working with a wide range of people through her customer-facing roles and community volunteering, including a trip where she helped build a house for a family in need. This tutor focuses on creating a relaxed atmosphere, asking lots of questions, using real-life examples from sport and everyday life, and building the kind of trust that helps students actually enjoy learning.
