What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
For me, the most enjoyable aspect of tutoring is to be able to watch the students I teach overcome their initial obstacles and progress through their learning, building confidence along the way. it gives me a sense of fulfillment and as a result, it's something I'm really passionate about.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think that my strengths lie mostly in the fact that I am patient and able to encourage students even when they don't understand after a few tries, and I am able to explain things in many different ways to see which one sticks the best, which I believe is essential especially when teaching younger children the basics.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the tutor has to be someone who is warm and friendly, and someone who the student sees as approachable yet still respects enough to take the lessons seriously. The student needs to feel confident in being able to ask the tutor any questions that they may be unsure about and so the dynamic needs to be one that is welcoming and accepting.

Lucy tends to jump to conclusions without thinking through the answer first, she says the first thing that comes to mind. Needs to slow down a bit and answer the questions step by step e.g. when reading a clock, look at hour hand first.

Lucy was able to mostly independently complete her school homework, understanding the concept of how to identify larger and smaller five digit numbers. She is getting more proficient at simple single digit additions.
Lucy is still struggling with carrying numbers in column addition. She understands the concept with some prompting, but requires more practice. She is also unfamiliar with what multiplication represents and how the expressions e.g. 3x2 can be rewritten as 3 + 3.
