Learning biology is cumulative, you can't really skip any steps because the concepts are intricately interconnected. Before you can take on complex concepts and processes, you need to understand the basics. With the help of a tutor most students find it easier to learn how to use drawings and diagrams, read with purpose, utilize lab notes
and use the knowledge in new situations so it really sticks.

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Bree has gotten better at backchecking her work, which showed in the last test she did as there were very few little mistakes. She does well at talking aloud through questions and using pen to paper to show her working out. We have begun working on problem solving skills, which Bree has made a good start on and we will continue practicing this.
Lara has an excellent attitude, and she seems much more confident since getting into the top maths class next year. Lara has always done work outside of our tutorials before I arrive, which is very helpful. It allows us to focus on the areas that need more attention. Lara's notes are always very neat and easy to follow.
Eloise has very good knowledge of maths and picks up new concepts very quickly. She just needs to improve on back checking in order to identify her mistakes. The only problem areas would be back checking through her work after she has completed it to pick up on mistakes and trying not to do all the math in her head in order to minimise the mistakes that she makes.

We had our 1st session tonight with David and it went really well. My son connected with him immediately even though he was nervous about tutoring and didn't really want to do it prior to tonight. After he had his session with David he said it was fun! I was pleasantly surprised to hear him say that and he asked that David come back next week instead of waiting a fortnight! We are very happy so far.
Things are going well with Amelia's tutoring and we are happy so far with the help Justin has given her. There was a decent improvement in her last maths assessment performance so that's a good sign!
We were all very impressed with Trent, Tamoe in particular. He was very patient and sought out a real connection with Tamoe. This really helped to get Tamoe to focus and listen. Tamoe is very keen to book in more time with Trent when school goes back.
