What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐Ÿ˜

What I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students understand concepts that they may have previously found confusing or intimidating. Having recently completed high school myself, I understand how overwhelming certain subjects can feel, especially when the content moves quickly. I enjoy breaking topics down into simpler steps and seeing the moment when a student gains confidence and clarity in their learning.

My Strengths as Tutor ๐Ÿ’ช

One of my main strengths is my strong academic foundation, particularly through subjects such as Maths Extension 1 and Science Extension, which required problem-solving, logical thinking, and clear explanation of complex ideas. As a recent graduate, I am also very familiar with the current curriculum and the challenges students face. I am patient, organised, and able to explain concepts in different ways until they make sense, adapting my approach to suit each studentโ€™s learning style.

Most important things I can do for a student ๐Ÿ…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do are to build a studentโ€™s confidence, provide clear explanations, and create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. A tutor should help students develop strong study habits and problem-solving skills rather than just giving answers, so they become more independent and confident learners over time.

About Navyah

Strong STEM Student with Advanced Maths Experience

Navyah is a recent high school graduate who excelled in advanced Mathematics Extension and Science Extension, making her well equipped to support primary and high school students in Maths and Science. She has experience with complex algebra, data modelling and abstract problem-solving, so she can clearly explain both basics and challenging concepts. This tutor understands what current students are learning and can break it down into manageable steps, building confidence for exams, homework and class tests.

Clear Communicator Who Builds Study Skills

Through peer support training and leadership roles at school, Navyah has developed strong communication and public speaking skills, which she brings into her tutoring. She helps students organise their work, manage time effectively and present their ideas clearly in written and verbal form. By drawing on her experience with self-directed research projects and formal lab reports, she shows students how to structure answers, read questions carefully and approach problems logically.

Patient, Caring Approach with Real-World Science Insight

With training in first aid, CPR and emergency life support, Navyah brings a calm, responsible and caring attitude to her sessions. Her independent science research project on microbial fermentation gave her hands-on experience with experiments, statistics and critical thinking, which she uses to make Science feel practical and interesting. This tutor enjoys relating Maths and Science to everyday life, helping students who may feel anxious or disengaged to see the purpose behind what they are learning.
