What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy the social elements of teaching. Being able to connect with students and adapt my teaching to fit their personalities and interests is a task I find enjoyably challenging.My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my past experience in education is my strongest skill. In the interim between getting my first degree and starting my second, I worked as a substitute teacher in Loudoun County, USA. During this time, I taught a variety of subjects and specialised in teaching English-Second Language students and Special Education (SPED) students. I therefore have the knowledge necessary to tutor, having already graduated high school and university, as well as the skills to teach children, as evidenced through my role as a substitute.Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe all educators need to be able to connect with students. About Me
Hi! My name is Troy, and I'm currently studying English Second Language Education at Macquarie University. In addition, I hold a degree in political science from George Mason University and have worked as a casual teacher, specialising in English Second Language (ESL/EAL) and Special Education (SPED) classes, prior to starting my master's. If your child needs help in social sciences, history, or legal studies, I'm up for the task of helping them succeed. I'm also adept at English and Spanish, having published several short stories and a novel, as well as having lived in Spain. Qualifications
- I'm studying a Master's of Applied Linguistics and TESOL at Macquarie University. - I have a Bachelor of Political Science and International Relations from George Mason University. - I worked as a substitute teacher in Loudoun County, Virginia, USA, for 8 months, specialising in English Second Language (ESL) education and Special Education (SPED). - I've been featured in several literary journals and have self-published a novel. - I speak Spanish at a non-fluent conversational level and lived in Granada, Spain in 2023. - I volunteered as an actor at Auckland's South Seas Film and Television School in 2024.

Hugo was less focused than he usually is. He also struggled with some of the larger times tables exercises in his homework, in particular, his 11s and 12s times tables. I'll include reviewing those topics in the next worksheet I design for him.
