What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Watching students understand a difficult topic and seeing the excitement and joy they get from it.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I can adapt my explanations well, if the way I am explaining something is not working for them I will try again in a different way, sometimes incorporating visual methods to help achieve comprehension. I am also patient with students and can often see what part of something they do not understand, helping me to explain it.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Whilst improving their grades is important, the most important thing a tutor can do is help their student find their love for learning, ensuring that they will push themselves to be curious.

About Xavier

Senior high school maths tutor who “gets” the exam pressure

Xavier is a current senior high school student who tutors maths for Years 10–12, so he understands exactly what students are facing with assessments, exams and changing syllabuses. He focuses on breaking down tricky concepts into clear, stepbystep explanations and then linking them directly to the kinds of questions students see in class and tests. This tutor helps students plan their study around assessment schedules, so they feel more in control and less overwhelmed as deadlines approach.

Clear communicator who builds confidence, not just marks

With strong communication and organisational skills, Xavier structures sessions so students always know what they are working on and why. He encourages students to talk through their thinking, then gently corrects errors and shows faster or more reliable methods. This tutor uses real past assessment questions to practise exam-style problem solving, helping students move from “sort of get it” to confidently handling full questions on their own.

Relatable role model with a practical approach to learning

As someone who is still at school himself, Xavier is easy for students to relate to and ask questions without feeling judged. He combines his own experience of juggling homework, exams and life outside school with practical tips on time management and staying calm under pressure. This tutor is especially good at helping students who “don’t like maths” find at least one topic they can feel good about, using targeted practice and simple strategies that quickly show real improvement.
