What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I believe I would most enjoy the opportunity to help students develop confidence in their learning. Although I have no prior tutoring experience, I imagine it would be highly rewarding to support a student as they come to understand concepts they previously found challenging. I would also value the chance to build a supportive and encouraging learning environment, where students feel comfortable engaging with their work and recognising their own progress.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As a tutor, I think my strengths would be more about how I support students rather than just what I know. I’m good at reading people and matching their energy, so I can adjust the way I explain things depending on what a student needs. I’m patient and understanding, which would help students feel comfortable admitting when they’re confused or stuck. Because I’ve had to work through challenging subjects myself, I’d be able to break ideas down in a clear, relatable way and encourage students without making them feel judged.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is make learning feel less intimidating. Since being tutored myself for multiple years, a good tutor isn’t just there to give answers, instead to help a student feel understood and supported. When someone explains things patiently and without judgement, it can make a huge difference to a student’s confidence.

About Emily
High-achieving student who understands the school system
Emily is a recent high school graduate currently studying at university, so she knows exactly what primary and high school students are expected to learn right now. Throughout school she consistently earned academic excellence and merit awards, showing that she not only understands the content but also how to study effectively and stay organised. This tutor can clearly explain how to break down assignments, manage homework and prepare for tests in a way that feels realistic and achievable for students.
Calm, reliable support for growing confidence
Emily brings a strong work ethic, punctuality and reliability from her experience balancing study with part-time work. She understands how to manage time and responsibilities, and she passes these habits on to her students through simple routines and step-by-step planning. In sessions, she focuses on building confidence by celebrating small wins and turning tricky questions into manageable tasks, helping students who may feel anxious or overwhelmed by schoolwork.
Relatable role model with a team-player mindset
As an active sportsperson who has played soccer and received a most valuable player award, Emily knows how to encourage, motivate and work as part of a team. She brings this same team spirit into tutoring, working alongside students rather than lecturing at them. This tutor uses clear goals, regular check-ins and friendly accountability to keep students engaged, while also communicating progress to parents in a straightforward and reassuring way.
