What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy working with students to achieve their goals and helping them along their journey. I find that it is very rewarding when the student is satisfied with their results, so I try my hardest to help students in their learning.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think my strengths as a tutor are that I am always open to challenges and new feedback. I've learnt to be patient when working with students of all ages from my previous experience as a private piano. I believe patience is crucial in allowing the students (especially younger students) learn most effectively.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I consider the most important thing for a tutor to do is to know their students well and work on their areas of weakness early on. This is because the foundations are very important for later years of learning. Also, a tutor must be patient with their students, or else it could lower students' self-esteem, as they may think they are slow with learning new skills. Lastly, having a good relationship with the student is also very important as it helps make learning fun and enjoyable, which I believe is the ultimate goal of any teacher.

About Claire

Growing Tutor with Strong Academic Drive

Claire is a high-achieving student who has been accepted into a competitive Medical Science degree, reflecting strong skills in maths, science and analytical thinking. Having recently completed high school herself, she understands current curriculum expectations and how assessments are marked. This tutor brings fresh insight into study strategies, exam preparation and time management that work in today’s classrooms, making her especially relatable and effective for primary and high school students.

Hands-On Experience Supporting Students’ Learning

Claire has worked as a homework marker at a tutoring centre, carefully checking students’ work in maths and English and giving clear, constructive feedback. This experience trained her to spot common mistakes quickly and explain concepts in simple, student-friendly language. She understands how to break down tricky questions into manageable steps and how to guide students towards independent problem-solving, rather than just giving them the answers.

Creative, Patient Teacher with Music Background

As a private piano teacher, Claire has planned one-on-one lessons, motivated younger students to practise regularly and adjusted her teaching style to suit different personalities. She uses this same patience and creativity in academic tutoring, often turning abstract ideas into visual or real-life examples. Claire knows how to keep students engaged, celebrate small improvements and build confidence, helping them feel comfortable asking questions and taking on new challenges in maths and English.
