What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

One of the things I enjoy most about tutoring is the opportunity to provide personalised, one-to-one support that truly meets a child where they are. As a primary school teacher with experience in SET, I’ve seen how powerful targeted support can be in building both academic skills and confidence. Tutoring allows me to slow down when needed, adapt my approach, and celebrate small but meaningful progress with each child. I especially love seeing a student go from feeling unsure to feeling capable and proud of their work. That growth in confidence is just as important as the academic improvement

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I believe my key strengths are my ability to differentiate effectively, build strong relationships with students, and create a calm, supportive learning environment. I am very comfortable identifying specific areas of need and tailoring lessons to suit each child’s learning style and pace. I regularly break down concepts into manageable steps and use varied teaching strategies to ensure understanding. I also prioritise building confidence. Many students who seek tutoring need reassurance as much as academic support, and I take pride in helping children feel capable and motivated.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe the most important things a tutor can do are build a student’s confidence, provide personalised support, and create a safe space for learning. Many students seeking tutoring need reassurance as much as academic help, so helping them feel capable and recognise their progress is key. A tutor should tailor lessons to the child’s individual needs, breaking concepts into manageable steps and adapting their approach where necessary. When students feel supported and understood, real progress can happen.

She plans, teaches and assesses complete units of work, always adjusting tasks so that both struggling and high-achieving students stay challenged. This tutor is confident with the full primary curriculum and brings clear routines, engaging activities and strong behaviour management to every session, helping students feel safe, focused and proud of their progress.

Skilled in Supporting Diverse Learners, Including SEN and ESL

Through her classroom roles, Orlaith has worked closely with students who have additional learning needs and those learning English as a second language. She uses visuals, hands-on materials and step-by-step scaffolding to break down tricky concepts, especially in literacy and numeracy. Drawing on specialist training in classroom management and restorative practice, she calmly guides students to take ownership of their behaviour, while keeping lessons positive, encouraging and inclusive for every child.

Energetic, Creative Approach from Camps and Childcare

Beyond the classroom, this tutor has led both sports and creative arts holiday camps, running games, drama, music and art workshops for primary-aged children. She is used to winning over shy students, building confidence through fun, structured activities that still reinforce key skills like reading instructions, counting, and following multi-step tasks. Her experience as a childcare provider means she communicates clearly with parents, keeps children safe and engaged, and brings warmth and reliability to every tutoring session.
