What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy communicating with others and helping them learn the same study skills, habits and mathematical comprehension that I learnt just last year when I completed my HSC and received a Band 6 in Mathematics Standard 2. I am a social person so I enjoy work where I can communicate and explain ideas with other people.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I enjoy communication a lot so I will greatly enjoy speaking with students. I am also able to articulate my ideas and explanations in a variety of ways so I can continually attempt to explain a difficult mathematical concept to a student who is struggling to understand.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe one of the most important things a tutor can do is be adaptable to the student's working style as this will enable them to learn mathematical concepts in a way which specifically and effectively works for them. I also believe that believing in the student is very important. I found that when I struggled in year 11 and 12 with certain topics, having people who pushed me and supported me helped me find the motivation to keep working hard until I understood the topic well.

About Nicholas

About me

I am a motivated and friendly individual with a strong interest in both education and personal development. I enjoy staying active through exercise and value maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Currently, I am studying to be an exercise physiologist at the University of Notre Dame, with the long term goal being to one day open my own health practice, where I can help others improve their wellbeing. I particularly enjoy working with people and find teaching very rewarding. In the past, I have helped tutor and support my younger cousins with their schoolwork, which allowed me to develop patience and clear communication skills. As a tutor, I aim to understand how each student learns best and tailor my approach to match their learning style.

Education

I am a recent high school graduate from St. Mary's Cathedral College. After studying Mathematics and English there through to year 12, I was taught many valuable study techniques and skills which helped me as I prepared for my HSC. I was supported in my learning by some amazing and dedicated tutors, teachers and peers along the way and know what an invaluable resource an inspiring tutor can be! I am now looking to share these skills and my knowledge of the English and Mathematics courses with any students willing to learn and improve their study skills and understanding of course content in the same way that I was helped when I needed it during high school. I am now studying bachelor of clinical exercise physiology at Notre Dame University.

Experience

I have experience supporting students who struggle with mathematics by explaining concepts in a clear and approachable way. I achieved a Band 6 in Mathematics Standard 2, which reflects my strong understanding of the subject. I have also frequently helped my younger cousins with their schoolwork, assisting them in understanding difficult topics and improving their confidence. Through these experiences, I have become very comfortable teaching others and guiding students through challenging material.
