What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students understand concepts in a way that actually makes sense to them, instead of just memorising. Since I personally struggled with mathematics during my primary years and improved a lot later through good tuition teachers for IGCSE and A Level, I understand how important clear explanation and guidance can be. I also find it rewarding to help others who are struggling, whether in school or university, especially when I can make difficult topics feel easier and more manageable for them.

My biggest strength as a tutor is that I focus on helping students truly understand a concept instead of just memorising it. Since I struggled with mathematics in primary school, I can relate to students who find certain topics difficult, which makes me patient and understanding. I am also good at breaking down difficult ideas, adapting my explanation to the student, and creating a comfortable environment where they feel confident to ask questions. Having improved a lot myself and later achieving an A* in IGCSE Additional Mathematics, I understand how much the right guidance is essential.

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is make the subject feel less intimidating and easier to understand. Many students are not bad at a subject, they just need it explained in a way that suits how they learn. A tutor should also help build the student’s confidence, because once they start understanding the concepts, they become more comfortable asking questions and improving.
