What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy the most about tutoring is that I get to help students and have my knowledge used at most. I understand that it'd not always be easy on this journey of learning, and I want to be there for the students, listen to their needs, share my experience and help them on the way. Tutoring would also allow me to develop skills for myself such as flexibility, time management, communication, etc.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
- Communication skills: I'm a good listener, can explain clearly in both verbal or written forms. I'm able to develop conversations with different people to understand more about them and their struggles.
- Flexibility: I'm always willing to learn, adapt to different situations quickly, and be able to tailor my teaching styles according to students' preferences.
- Patience & consistency: I strive for the best and do not give up easily. I'm willing to explain a topic again and again for the students when needed and will encourage students to try and do their best at all time.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help students be confident and believe in themselves. There'll be times they encounter difficult problems or don't get what they expect. It's important to stay positive, believe in your potential to not give up. As a tutor, I'll help them to achieve this by encouraging confidence and creating a safe, non-judgemental environment so they can express their thoughts independently.

About Van
Emerging Maths Talent with Strong Academic Results
Van is a high-achieving maths student who has completed the International Baccalaureate with strong results in Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level. She has earned recognition in national mathematics competitions, including a merit in a major university mathematics and statistics research competition and a credit in the Kangourou sans Frontières challenge. This track record shows that she not only understands challenging maths content, but also knows how to approach problem-solving in creative and structured ways that she can pass on to younger students.
Engaging Science Communicator and STEM Role Model
As a Science Ambassador at university, Van has experience presenting STEM concepts to diverse audiences through interactive talks and hands-on activities. She has collaborated with teachers to design simple experiments that link school science topics to real-world applications. This means she is comfortable explaining tricky ideas clearly, breaking them into manageable steps, and making learning feel practical and interesting—especially helpful for students who find science or maths intimidating or “too abstract”.
Patient Multilingual Tutor with Strong Study Skills
Van brings excellent time management, organisation and presentation skills, developed through the IB programme and her ambassador work. She speaks English, Vietnamese and Mandarin, which can be reassuring for families from multilingual backgrounds or students who benefit from explanations in more than one language. This tutor is patient, approachable and used to working in teams, so she is well placed to build students’ confidence, help them prepare for assessments, and share effective study strategies for both maths and science.
