About Youchun
A Bit About Me
Hi, I'm Youchun. I've been tutoring maths for about two and a half years now, with six months of that formally, and the rest informally helping classmates, friends and younger students work through problems they've been stuck on. It's the part of school I've always enjoyed most, and over time I've realised I like the teaching side of it as much as the maths itself.
My Experience
What I've found matters most isn't being the person with all the answers, but rather building a comfortable relationship where the student feels safe to try new things, get them wrong, and talk through their thinking out loud. A lot of students who think they're "bad at anything" just haven't had someone patient enough to slow down with them and figure out where the gap really is. My approach is to do that first, before going into harder content. I try to keep sessions structured, being prepared and on time, but also being relaxed and easy to talk to about any concerns.
